TOASTMASTERS INTERNATIONAL NEWS

Your Club Vote Matters at the Toastmasters Annual Business Meeting!

Assign Club Proxyholder by this Friday, August 15th!

Check the status of your club here

The Annual Business Meeting (ABM) is a yearly assembly of the voting members of Toastmasters International. It is primarily held for the election of Board Members and to conduct other business of the organization.

Every member can help shape the future of the organization. Start by learning about the International Officer and Director candidates and any proposals for amendments to the Bylaws of Toastmasters International and the Club Constitution for Clubs of Toastmasters International. Learn more here. Club members also decide who will cast the clubs' two votes and if/how the club will provide instructions to a proxyholder.

ACTION ITEM

The Club President or Club Secretary is responsible for assigning the club's proxy to the designated proxyholder, prior to the deadline of August 15, 2025.

You will have 3 options for proxyholder -

1) Member of Club

2) District Director

3) Other Active Toastmaster

Each club in good standing must designate a proxy holder even if assigning proxy holder to themselves.

To learn how to assign the proxy holder, please review this video.

WHAT IMPRESSION DOES YOUR CLUB MAKE?

SCHEDULE A MOMENTS OF TRUTH

CLUB QUALITY STANDARDS EVALUATION

Do you remember what stood out to you when you visited your club for the first time? What was awesome? What was curious? What was frightening?

Our clubs only have one opportunity to make a first impression. Using the Moments of Truth survey, we can anonymously give feedback on just how well our club is dong in six key aspects. This information can then fuel plans for how our club strives to be the best that it can be. D2 is glad to invite you to experience the MOT with our Chair Richard Ripley.

Join us tonight for the next Moments of Truth Office Hour

Date: Monday, August 11th, 2025

Time: 6:00 – 7:30 PM Pacific Time, 5:00 – 6:30 PM Alaska

There will be a presentation and opportunities for questions and answers. If tonight doesn't work, check out the D2 Events Calendar for other Moments of Truth (MOT) Office Hours.

As a special August bonus, this session can count toward Officer training!

For any inquiries, feel free to reach out to Chair Richard Ripley.

Your Brain on Table Topics: A High-Speed Chase Through Your Mind

What really happens when you have 60 seconds

to think, speak, and impress.

The clock starts. Your heart races. Your brain floors the

gas pedal while your mouth scrambles to keep up. Welcome to Table Topics.

One second, you’re relaxed in your seat. The next, your name

is called, and every eye is on you. Your thoughts scatter like startled birds.

You have one minute to make sense—and maybe make magic.

The Adrenaline Kick

That jolt you feel? It’s adrenaline. It sharpens focus but

can also make words tumble out faster than you can catch them. Your brain

becomes both coach and heckler—urging you forward while warning, Don’t mess

this up.

The Mental Chase

In seconds, your mind cycles through:

  • Detective
  • Mode – Scanning the question for clues.

  • Plot
  • Twist Mode – Searching for an unexpected angle.

  • Editor
  • Mode – Filtering words mid-sentence.

It’s like being a spy in a back-alley chase—reacting in real time and hoping you don’t hit a dead end.

The Superpowers You Gain:

  • Quick
  • Thinking: Decisions while speaking, not before.

  • Story
  • Weaving: A beginning, middle, and end—on demand.

  • Audience
  • Connection: Reading cues and adjusting instantly.

Think of it as CrossFit for your brain—no gym membership required.
