The budget process goes public in April with numerous hearings and work sessions. Rt. 32 expansion continues; renderings of Phase 2 (Linden Church to Rt. 70) are provided in this update. ZRA-183 (Composting & Natural Wood Waste) passes the Planning Board with all 5 members recommending approval; the first Council hearing will be April 16. Rt. 70 improvements are part of the 2019 SHA Priority Letter; these improvements represent much needed long-term relief for Rt. 99/40. CAMPAIGN NEWS
Election Day - June 26 - is less than 3 months away so the full range of campaign activities are operational. And the past few weeks have been filled with opportunities to spend time with constituents. I was honored to join a small group of business owners in a forum with Governor Hogan. I had fantastic meetings with a community group and company led by former military officers about full spectrum school security. We hosted our second round table discussion with leaders from the farming community. While teaching another class for Junior Achievement - a 5th grade class at West Friendship ES - I had valuable discussions with several parents and local residents about redistricting, development and lack of factual news available to Howard County residents. I participated in a meeting with the Howard County Citizens Association during at which we discussed zoning reforms in great detail. The Mt. Hebron/Orchards HOA held a terrific candidates forum to discuss numerous issues to the residents of this neighborhood. I enjoyed wonderful evening with leaders and clients of Living in Recovery. And of course my usual schedule of meetings of Boards on which I serve and hearings related to issues important to District 5!
