The SCS United Way campaign kicks off Monday. Help us reach our $150K goal for local youth!

We're kicking off our District's United Way campaign Monday, September 23, and we hope all employees will consider participating to help us reach our District fundraising goal of $150,000 for local youth and families. During the two-week campaign, team leaders in each school and department around the District will be hosting exciting events to help raise funds for the United Way of the Mid-South. You can make an e-pledge , or check with your school or department's Employee Engagement Champion to learn more about your team's fundraising efforts. Nominate Students for the Nat'l Civil Rights Museum's Keeper of the Dream Award.

The National Civil Rights Museum's Keeper of the Dream Award celebrates and recognizes students in grades 6-12 for helping overcome community issues, such as diversity, inclusion, education and food insecurity, through support, leadership and empowerment to their peers and the community. If you know a student who has demonstrated acts of compassion, leadership, commitment and service,  submit a nomination  for the Keeper of the Dream Award  by TOMORROW, September 20, at 5 p.m. The award will be presented during the  2019 Freedom Forum .
Donate books for a great cause at the "Book Fair for Those that Care!" on September 28.

SCS is partnering with Novel Bookstore to host a Book Fair for Those that Care as a part of our "Commit 2 Literacy Challenge!" We're looking for community members, SCS parents, teachers and staff to help us collect books and inspire kids to read! Participating is fun and simple - take a look at the flyer for details about how you can get involved during the event on September 28. Can't make it that day? No worries! Head to Novel any time September 28 - October 5, and mention the SCS 3rd Grade Commitment to get the discount and donate a book. Participating is a great way to support a local business, and early literacy, while also being an awesome Memphian - all at the same time!
Gear up for Breast Cancer Awareness Month! Sign up to lead your school or office fundraiser.

October is right around the corner, and that means it's time to launch our District's efforts to raise awareness ( and funds ) for breast cancer in the community. SCS schools and departments are encouraged to form fundraising walk teams to support the American Cancer Society's Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk on October 20. If you're interested in leading a walk team at your school or department , let us know here so we can equip you with resources, swag and info to make your team's fundraiser a success! Also, don't forget to start brainstorming unique ways to help your team win this year's Think Pink Contest to win a FREE lunch for your school or department.
