Updated re-entry FAQs are here. PLUS- another opportunity for staff input on how to return stronger.

After the release of the S.A.F.E. Re-Entry Plan on Monday, we've addressed many of the frequently asked questions received from employees about the reopening of schools. This updated FAQ document combines all of the questions and answers shared on Monday and Tuesday, including general HR-related questions, as well as health and safety and various instructional topics. We also want your input on what it will take to return stronger, including:

  • General feelings about the reopening of schools
  • Concerns about meeting the needs of students
  • Considerations for safety practices & precautions
  • Factors to consider for any potential extended closures
  • PD & preferences for lesson delivery
The 2020-21 TEAM Observer Certification window is now open.  

Interested in supporting our observation process for school leaders this year? The state certification window is open through March 31, 2021, and certifications are valid until June. If you were certified last year, you should have received an email invitation to re-certify from either  or . Opportunities are also available for first-time observer certifications. Take note of the new mileage reimbursement dates and details for 2020-21.

The Finance Department has announced the mileage reimbursement schedule for the new school year. Monthly mileage reports can be submitted using the Employee Portal. All approved local travel mileage will be reimbursed at the current IRS allowable rate of 57.5 cents per mile. All staff must complete required SafeSchools training for OSHA and Board policies.

Required Non-Instructional Evaluation (NIE) training starts July 1 for all SCS supervisors.

The Non-Instructional Evaluation (NIE) season is underway. We're kickstarting the year with our new  REQUIRED certification training   for central office and school-based supervisors who evaluate non-instructional staff. The training offers an in-depth look at:

  • NIE Rubric Breakdown
  • NIE Competency Review (Skills v. Behaviors)
  • Phases of the Process (Evaluator Actions)
  • Supervisor Support Tools
