The 8th annual SCS Suicide Prevention Expo is taking place Friday, October 30. The annual event helps increase awareness and support for the actions we can take as a District and community to prevent suicide. This year's expo will take place virtually from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Join us live at bit.ly/saveourstudents2020 to hear important facts and learn about resources available for suicide prevention and social emotional support.

The HR team is leading SCS in the fight against breast cancer by partnering with the Susan G. Komen Foundation on a $10,000 fundraising drive in the month of October. Employees can make cash donations to support the foundation at the Barnes, COE and Bond Building reception desks, M-F, 8 a.m. - 2 p.m. through Friday, October 23. All donations are welcomed and appreciated. Get a THINK PINK gift box with a pink face mask for donations of $20 or more while supplies last! #SCSTHINKPINK
Methodist's Mobile Mammography Unit is coming to the BOE.
SCS and CIGNA have teamed up with Methodist Healthcare to bring digital mammograms to you! The Methodist Mobile Unit will be performing on-site screenings October 26, 29 and 30 at the BOE from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Women 40 and older who have not had their annual mammogram in the past 12 months can sign up for appointments. There is no cost to CIGNA members if this is a regular preventive care screening and you have not had a mammogram in 2020. If no appointments are available, send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org to be placed on a waitlist. If you signed up and cannot keep your appointment, click here to reschedule or cancel.
We're putting the BOO in BOOKS on Halloween! Encourage families to join us October 31!
Our second "Boo for Books" event is taking place Saturday, October 31, 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. at the Board of Education. This year's event will be a drive-thru event with free goodie bags and books for students in grades Pre-K - 5 while supplies last. The goal of the event is to continue to increase awareness, support and engagement around the District's Third Grade Commitment early literacy initiative by helping students and families build their at-home libraries. The Coordinated School Health and HR teams have more FREE outdoor fitness opportunities planned over the next several weeks. The new Fitness in the Park series at Shelby Farms is every Tuesday and Thursday through October 29. There are a variety of classes for all fitness levels.
Flu shots are available for employees through Nov. 25.
SCS and Methodist are partnering to provide flu shots for employees this fall. Appointments are available every Thursday and Friday, TODAY through November 25, 7 a.m. - 5 p.m. at the Family Care Center on Flicker. Flu shots are free for employees with a CIGNA health plan and $20 for employees who are not on the District's plan. Dependents can also get a flu shot for $20. View the flyer here.
