Student Government Association

For this week's #OneTeamOneWillardWednesday, we visited our Student Government Association (SGA).

Our SGA says that #OneTeamOneWillard means working to involve and connect every student, no matter their values or backgrounds, and continuing to look for ways to build up our community which extends not only throughout our school but to our district as a whole. We are constantly striving to value every voice and work as one team!

Half Day Friday, October 21

Tomorrow, Friday, October 21st, will be a half day for students and the end of the first quarter. The High School and Middle School will release at 11:30 a.m. and the Elementary and Intermediate Schools will release at 12:30 p.m.

Student Fall Break 

Students will be out of school for Fall Break from Friday, October 28th, through Monday, October 31st, 2022. Enjoy the break, and we look forward to seeing your students on Tuesday, November 1st, 2022. 

The Willard High School Band is beginning their annual Holiday Greenery Fundraiser! This is a long-standing,  successful tradition for the program.

If you would like to order your holiday wreaths, garlands, or other greenery please do so here.

Orders will be taken through next Thursday, October 27. Delivery is expected between November 28 - December 7.

We are excited to celebrate our great educators with other districts in the region throughout the school year through the Teacher Proud program. This month, we are spotlighting 8th Grade ELA Teacher, Mrs. Candis Shaw.

Her peers say she is always a positive person, creates great relationships with students, and makes learning fun. She is known for her catchphrase, "I support you," and extends that support to students and colleagues. Thank you, Mrs. Shaw, for investing in our students!

Willard Parks and Recreation is hosting a Spooky 5K Sprint on October 29, 2022, benefiting Better Together Playground. The "haunted" run/walk will follow the city-wide Trunk or Treat event on October 29th and begin at 7:30 p.m. at the Frisco Trailhead. 

Registration for the event with a t-shirt is $25. Without a t-shirt, registration is $15. 

Our Willard Athletic Booster Club (WABC) is hosting their first Chili Cook-Off Kick-Off on Saturday, November 12, from 5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. in the Willard High School Commons.  

The entry fee for contestants is $20. Tasters will pay $5 per chili tray (which includes approximately six 1/2 cup containers). Additional trays are available to purchase for $5. All WABC members and athletic programs business sponsors will receive their first tray free of charge. 

To enter as a contestant, register here.There will be prizes for place winners which will be voted on by a judging panel, as well as a People's Choice Award. 

Following the cook-off, WABC will honor Fall Sports Athletes and showcase Winter Sports Athletes. If you have any questions, please reach out to WABC Vice President, Jennifer Dixon.
