2022 Project Christmas House needs volunteers and funding

Project Christmas House is a project of our district that builds one house per year for families who have lost their home due to a natural disaster. This year's home will be built in Mayfield, Ky. We need church and individual financial support and volunteers to attend this mission trip for one or more days. $42,000 is needed to fully fund the project. Our district goal is to raise $20,000 by Dec. 16.

Bishop McAlilly Enters Next Step of Healing

Bishop McAlilly is recovering from a successful heart procedure earlier this week. He appreciates your continued prayers for healing as he continues his journey to physical wellness. Cards may be mailed to him at 304 S. Perimeter Park Drive, Nashville, TN 37211. While he is on medical leave, retired Bishop Joe Pennel will be our acting bishop on an interim basis. He can be reached at [email protected].

FREE Advent booklets

We have available in the district office a resource for Advent that we purchased and are giving away first come, first serve. We have 100 copies of a booklet from Living Compass called Living Well Through Advent 2022: Practicing Simplicity with All Your Heart, Soul, Strength, and Mind. The booklet is designed for use as an individual reflection or for group study. It provides a foundation for seeking a deeper experience of Advent, an experience that will help prepare us for the true meaning of Christmas. If you want to do a group study, Living Compass offers a free downloadable Facilitator Guide on their website | link.

What does it mean to be a United Methodist?

United Methodist Communications’ research team wants to hear from you about what it means to be a United Methodist. The denomination’s communications agency is looking for feedback on a variety of topics in an effort to listen and learn from church members to inform UMCom’s work. The survey will take about 10 minutes and all of the information provided will be kept strictly confidential. Questions can be directed to Teresa Faust at [email protected]. Take survey

Invitation to participate in live nativity

What do you think of when you hear the word evangelism? Evangel is simply the Christian gospel and evangelism is simply the telling or spreading of the good news! As always, these tasks are more easily accomplished together!

You, your family, your small group or congregation has an opportunity to tell the story of the birth of Jesus: Saturday, December 3, 1-3pm and 6-9pm at the Murray Calloway County Fairgrounds at 211 Fairgrounds Rd. Murray, KY 42071! The UMC's of Calloway County has a Live Nativity with 8 scenes that tell this story. We have live animals, including camels. We have scenes, costumes, and refreshments. All indoors!

Won't you consider joining us to tell this story once again? For more information contact Calloway Cluster Chairperson, Mrs. Tara McClure: [email protected].

Blessings!
