Ray-Pec Parent Community,

I have some exciting news to share with you. At a meeting that just concluded, the Ray-Pec Board of Education finalized a contract to purchase the 41,000+ square foot facility at 58 Highway and Foxridge Drive. This facility was the site of the former Orscheln Farm & Home store and has been vacant for several years. This is a very exciting and visionary move by your Board of Education.

The facility holds great promise for the students of the Ray-Pec School District. As you know, the Board recently announced that Proposition S, a no-tax-rate-increase bond election, will be held on April 6, 2021. The decision to place an election on the ballot for April followed a 19-month facility planning process. Work on the plan included a steering committee of Ray-Pec teachers, principals, city planners, architects, demographers, and district administration. Over 25 community presentations and three surveys of parents and residents were conducted to gather feedback on priorities.

An exciting part of this bond election is the opportunity to transform this vacant property at 58 Highway and Foxridge Drive into an exciting place for students to explore career paths, to gain employable certifications, to participate in exciting new styles of learning, or to explore their interests and gain skill in technology occupations. The prospects for this space are very exciting for our students and our community.

I wanted you to be among the first to know about our Board’s decision. The contract to purchase is also a tremendous financial deal as well. An independent appraiser valued this property at a figure well in excess of the contract purchase price. The opportunity to acquire this property necessitated that the Board acts now, and the proceeds from the bond election, if successful, will assist with the acquisition costs for the property.

As you can see, this is an exciting time to be in Panther Country! More information about this important election on April 6 will continue to be communicated in the coming weeks.

Thank you for entrusting your children to the Ray-Pec School District.
