February Birthstone

Amethyst

Amethyst, with its deep purple color is associated with Bacchus, the Greek god of wine. Historians say that large drinking vessels used for water and wine were often carved from this stone. Some Roman’s believed that wearing Amethyst would help to guarantee fidelity. Amethyst is among the twelve gemstones that lined the walls of heaven in Revelations. The Roman Catholic church designates the pure color of Amethyst to be associated with the wine transfigured to Christ’s blood in the sacrament of Mass. According to online claims, amethysts are said to have several physical healing properties including enhancing the immune system, improving the skin’s appearance, reducing headaches, and regulating hormones. Amethyst being a powerful and protective stone protecting the wearer from all types of harm including stress and ill wishes from others. Amethyst is a natural tranquilizer as it relieves stress and strain, soothes irritability, balances mood swings, dispels anger, rage, fear and anxiety.

Alexandrite Ring Sells for Record-Setting $1.9M at Sotheby’s

The nearly 17-carat stone made history for the color-change gem that, according to the auction house, is experiencing a “notable surge”

in the market.

This ring featuring a 16.53-carat alexandrite sold for $1.9 million at Sotheby’s on

December11, 2024.

New York—A piece of alexandrite jewelry made history at Sotheby’s recent Magnificent Jewels auction.

A ring set with a 16.53-carat oval-shaped alexandrite sold to a buyer on the phone for $1.9 million, more than three times its high-end estimate of $600,000.

It set a record for any alexandrite sold at auction, said Sotheby’s, noting that the gemstone, remarkable for its color-change phenomenon, is experiencing a “notable surge” in the market.

The piece was one of three alexandrite lots on offer, a group described by the auction house as being of “the finest gem quality.” They achieved a combined total of $3.3 million.

A pair of earrings featuring a 7.69 carat and a 7.38 carat alexandrite sold

for 1.2 million against a high-end estimate of $300,000 following a four-minute bidding war.

A 40.52 carat oval-shaped alexandrite (estimated $150,000 to $300,000) that

sold to an online bidder for $216,000.

Anna Ruzhnikov, a Sotheby’s specialist and head of Magnificent Jewels, said the stones are the finest and largest alexandrite’s the house has ever encountered.

“The 16.53-carat ring, in particular, is a truly exquisite gem, and its record-breaking price is a well-deserved reflection of its exceptional quality,” she said.

“It’s incredibly exciting to witness alexandrite’s reaching such remarkable new heights in the market and equally thrilling to see the growing recognition among collectors, who are now embracing these gemstones as not only rare and beautiful but on par with the legendary sapphires, emeralds, and rubies in terms of desirability and value.”

The Magnificent Jewels auction, which took place in New York on Dec. 11, achieved $30 million, with 92 percent of the lots offered finding buyers.

A ring featuring a 10.33-carat untreated Burmese ruby that Sotheby’s called “exceptional and immeasurably rare,” was the auction’s top lot.

This 10 carat Burmese ruby ring was the star lot of Magnificent Jewels.

It sold for $5.5 million after a six-minute bidding battle between two bidders on the phone and one in the room, exceeding its pre-sale estimate of $1 million-$2 million.

In lots featured colored diamonds, a 7-carat fancy intense purplish pink diamond inspired a four-minute bidding war.

In the end, it sold within its estimate for $3.4 million, making it the auction’s second highest-grossing lot.

A 5.02 carat fancy orange pink diamond and diamond ring that sold to an online bidder

for $684,000, slightly above its pre-sale estimate.

A 3.32 carat marquis cut fancy grayish blue diamond that sold above estimate

for $720,000.

Argenti Designer Jewelers Creates Jewelry Designs With Mined Diamonds And Lab Grown Diamonds. This Depends On The Clients Request.

Information Below About Lab Grown Diamonds

Mark Silver at Argenti Designer Jewelers designs in both mined and lab grown diamonds. Both diamond collections of bracelets, rings, necklaces and earrings are available in solid 14K yellow or white gold.

Lab-grown diamonds are diamonds with the same crystal structure, chemical composition, and physical properties as the mined rocks, their carbon atoms are arranged in a cubic crystal structure.

With the advancement in technology through the years, our lab-grown diamonds have the same crystal structure, chemical composition and physical properties as mined diamonds.

Lab Grown Diamond is the same as a mined diamond and an affordable luxury for all.

These diamonds are grown in labs, with advanced technological processes that stimulate and create the same conditions under which mined diamonds develop when they form in the mantle, beneath the Earth’s crust.

Lab grown diamonds looks exactly the same as mined diamonds, and the only difference is the origin of the creation. One being mined from the inner Earth and the other created in labs.

The lab diamonds are more environmentally friendly and an option to purchasing mined diamonds.

Lab Grown Diamonds Process

The easy process of creating a lab grown diamond begins with a thin slice of diamond seed that is placed in a sealed chamber. The chamber is filled with carbon rich-gas, such as Methane, and are ionized into plasma using lasers/microwaves technologies. Then the molecular bonds in the gases are broken and the pure carbon slowly crystallizes and sticks to the diamond seed. This process will take between 6-10 weeks to form a lab grown diamond.

We have laser-inscribed certification numbers on larger lab diamonds that are visible under a microscope.

In addition, our mined diamonds are graded and certified by GIA – Gemological Institute of America

as our assurance of excellent quality.

Our lab-grown diamonds are graded using the standard 4Cs method of assessing diamond quality. They all come with a certification of authenticity grading report. We provide the International Gemological Institute (IGI) certification for larger diamonds. Identification is important to us and is always a representation of our quality jewelry.
