Because we've all been there...

This week's Missed It! Mondays star, Mercede Marcolongo from Cleveland, had a good sense of humor and better advice after this tumble off Christmas Eve at Buckeye Horse Park outside of Canfield, Ohio.
"The day was hotter than ever, as is to be expected at any summer horse show," she said. "We had a great school in the early morning and another in the early afternoon. Our weekend was going great with firsts, seconds and thirds flying out of the steward's hands like $100 bills from a rich man.
"As Christmas Eve and I made our way in the ring [for the next class], I noticed something was off," she continued. "My vision was blurring, but I thought I'd get over it as soon as we started the courtesy circle. All of a sudden, the first diagonal looked closer than it was an hour ago, so I set up for the spot. We made it over, but only half way. Next thing I realized I was on the ground, and 'Eve' was stuck in between the jump looking at me with a confused expression on her face.
"
My horse show wisdom to every rider is to always, always stay hydrated," she added.

Show Jumping Issue
Don't miss the article everyone's talking about, "#MeToo: The Story Of A Trainer, A Trophy And An All-Too-Common Betrayal," in which multiple survivors of childhood sexual assault tell their stories, and we look into the inter-sport SafeSport program now in place to help equestrians suffering from sexual, physical or emotional misconduct. Get to know Alan Waldman, the horseman with an incredible eye for talent, and go behind the scenes at Georgina Bloomberg's gorgeous Gotham North in North Salem, New York. We have funny stories from top show jumpers' working student days - including one that involves a stealth trip to Barnes And Noble to buy a book called "How To Break Baby Horses." Catch up with dressage star Shelly Francis and Mary Hutchins, who has devoted a lifetime to serving in almost every behind-the-scenes capacity in the sport of eventing. Plus reports from Carolina International, HITS Coachella (California), HITS Ocala (Florida) and Gulf Coast Winter Classic (Mississippi).
