February - March 2024

What a vibrant season it's been! As the weather nudges us toward spring, there's a palpable sense of reflection and acknowledgment in Boston. Our city is engaging more deeply with its history of racial harm, drawing us closer to a collective movement for healing. Help keep this momentum going by engaging with TBC as we do our part in this movement.

As we’ve bid farewell to Black History Month, we recognize the ongoing impact of racial harm on Black communities in Boston. We know the inequities experienced by Black Bostonians have led to generational trauma that has persisted since those time periods. So we too must persist in deepening our understanding beyond February.

Please join us in promoting these locally produced educational resources on pivotal moments in Boston’s Black History. We are privileged to be uplifting this work and the people and organizations leading these efforts.

Embrace Boston’s "Harm Report"

TBC was proud to honor, Imari Paris Jeffries, CEO of Embrace Boston, as our 2023 BFY Leader of Change Awardee.

Boston Globe’s “Murder in Boston” podcast series | Globe Articles in depth

HBO’s “Nightmare on Mission Hill” documentary

We congratulate TBC’s BOD member and distinguished Boston Globe columnist, Adrian Walker, for his insightful reporting and journalism in both the article and podcast series and his contributions to the HBO documentary.

GBH’s “The Busing Battleground” documentary

TBC OEP and Counseling Center staff were grateful to have been invited to develop a wellness toolkit including trauma-based and somatics frameworks and resources which they offered to attendees at each of GBH’s Boston screenings of this powerful and disturbing documentary.

Addressing Boston’s legacy of harm requires the multigenerational healing TBC provides through our work with youth, youth workers, and youth serving organizations.

We will celebrate the advancement of this healing work at our 2024 Bostonians for Youth (BFY) gala on June 7, 2024. This year, we will honor Nicole Obi, one of Boston’s Black multi-sector leaders, with the Leader of Change Award. Through TBC's innovative methodologies and Nicole's impactful work at BECMA (Black Economic Council of Massachusetts), we're fostering a culturally rich environment that nurtures opportunities for generations to come. There's much to rejoice in our collective journey toward healing!
