Join REBA’s Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging (DEIB) Section

at its Inaugural Kick-off Brown-bag Lunch Meeting on September 18th!

In June, the REBA Board of Directors unanimously approved the creation of a new Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging Section. REBA seeks to be the bar association for all real estate legal professionals, for a diverse, inclusive membership and leadership that welcomes all real estate professionals from a broad range of personal and professional backgrounds, and more reflective of the people, companies, and communities we serve.

Among other things, the new DEIB Section will:

  • Create initiatives in long-term planning and membership recruitment to encourage membership and active participation from all attorneys and real estate professionals of different backgrounds;

  • Develop programs for REBA members to (i) increase awareness concerning inequities, systematic barriers, implicit/explicit biases, and microaggressions, and (ii) implement best practices and actionable techniques to respond to such preclusive behaviors;

  • Create objective, measurable standards to regularly assess REBA’s progress towards achieving its stated goals; and,

  • Help foster an environment of open, responsive, and receptive communication within REBA.

You can find the DEIB Section Mission Statement here.

The DEIB Section will host an inaugural, kick-off brown bag lunch, at the offices of Dain Torpy, located at 175 Federal Street in Boston, on Wednesday, September 18, 2024 at 12 pm. We’ll be brainstorming ideas for the new Section, consistent with its Mission Statement. Bring your questions and ideas! In aid of its goal in seeking to reflect a diverse set of viewpoints, the DEIB Section welcomes real estate professionals, including those who are not yet members of REBA, to participate in this kick-off meeting. Bring your friends and colleagues!

This lunch meeting, open to all REBA members and non-members, is from 12 to 1 pm on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at Dain Torpy in Boston. To attend, RSVP to Matt Zarrella at zarrella@reba.net.
