Dear Friends in Christ,

I wanted to update you on a few items regarding this weekend.

The Funeral for Pope Francis

As you undoubtedly know, the funeral for Pope Francis is on Saturday (tomorrow) at 4:00 AM EDT. While the funeral will be broadcast on most major networks and EWTN, I will stream EWTN's coverage on our own St. Joan LIVE channel. Thus, you will be able to watch the funeral live or on demand on St. Joan LIVE, on our Facebook page, or our Roku channel. If there is a hiccup on my end, I will upload a funeral to our site later so you'll be able to watch it on demand.

Memorial prayer cards have also been printed and will be available in the pews and the Gathering Space this weekend.

Novena in Memory of Pope Francis

As I previously mentioned, the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops has asked the faithful of the United States to pray a Novena in memory of Pope Francis beginning on Saturday, the day of his funeral. That Novena can be downloaded here. Copies of the Novena for you to take home have been printed and are available in the pews in the Church. We will pray Day 1 at the Masses on Saturday and Day 2 at the Masses on Sunday.

In addition, each day at 3:00 PM on St. Joan LIVE, starting tomorrow (Saturday), Father Bob and I will lead the faithful of our parish in praying the Novena. We will go live at 2:55 PM each day, with the Novena to be prayed at 3:00 PM. If you can't join us live, you'll be able to watch it on demand later on our Archives Page.

Divine Mercy Weekend and the Divine Mercy Chaplet

This weekend, we celebrate Divine Mercy Sunday. We will pray the Divine Mercy Chaplet 30 minutes before each of our weekend Masses. If you are interested in joining us, please arrive at least 30 minutes before Mass.

Blessings on your weekend.

In Christ,

Msgr Mike Simply Signature
Novena in Memory of Pope Francis

O God, who in your wondrous providence

chose your servant Pope Francis

to preside over your Church,

grant, we pray,

that, having served as

the Vicar of your Son on earth,

he may be welcomed by him into eternal glory.

Who lives and reigns with you

in the unity of the Holy Spirit,

God, for ever and ever.

AMEN.
