Campus Responds to Gallo School Pre-Proposal

The Academic Senate and campus administration formally responded to our pre-proposal for establishing the Gallo School of Management on February 5, 2021. You can find the pre-proposal along with the senate response and administration response on our Resources page. Over the next year, we will work with you and other campus stakeholders to revise the pre-proposal. Stay tuned for more on the revision process - soon!
Advisory Council for Future Gallo School Holds First Meeting
The External Advisory Council for the future Gallo School of Management met for the first time on March 17, 2021. The council's goal is to help shape and promote the future school, helping with connections relevant to programs, plans, and philanthropy. Council members expressed enthusiasm for the proposed Gallo School plan and offered suggestions relevant to future programs.
Senate Responds to Master of Data Science and Analytics Proposal
On April 6, 2021, Graduate Council formally responded to our proposal for a self-supporting graduate professional degree program, Master of Data Science and Analytics. You can find the proposal and the responses on our Resources page. The team is revising the proposal now. Your input is welcome!
Faculty Develop Proposal for New Major in Data Science and Analytics
Faculty from MCS and EBM have been working together to develop a proposal for a new undergraduate program in Data Science and Analytics. With the proposal expected to be submitted for campus approval next academic year, the team is seeking input from faculty members across the campus. The Division of Management and Information precedes the proposed Ernest and Julio Gallo School of Management at UC Merced, which if approved will combine the Departments of Cognitive and Information Sciences, Management and Business Economics, and Management of Complex Systems to focus on the complexity of real-world problems and systems; the need to gather and analyze data and information in real time; behavior and management of individuals, firms, institutions, and economies; and sustainability of coupled human-natural systems.
