Do I qualify for a special enrollment period?
An additional special enrollment period, or SEP, is available for people to sign up for health care coverage through the federal health insurance Marketplace. This SEP is aimed at individuals and families whose income is 100 percent to 150 percent of the federal poverty level who are eligible for advance payments of the premium tax credit (APTC) to take advantage of the enhanced APTC available through the American Rescue Plan.

There is no cost to talk to an Enroll Wyoming Navigator to see if you qualify for a special enrollment period. As a grant-funded nonprofit, we do not have sales incentives or quotas. We simply work to provide information to individuals and families so they can decide what works best for them.

The FPL is based on annual income and the number of people in a household. A detailed FLP chart can be found here, but we've included a summarized version below.
Even if your household doesn't fall into the 150% range, it still may qualify for a special enrollment period if there have been certain life-changing events in the past 60 days. Qualifying events include:
-- Losing health insurance: You may qualify for a special enrollment period if you or anyone in your household lost qualifying health coverage in the past 60 days or expects to lose coverage in the next 60 days. This may include ...
* Losing job-based coverage
* Losing individual health coverage for a plan or policy you bought yourself
* Losing eligibility of Medicaid or the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP)
* Losing coverage through a family member
-- Getting married
-- Having a baby, adopting a child, or placing a child for foster care
-- Getting divorced or legally separated and lost health insurance: Note that divorce or legal separation without losing coverage doesn't qualify your for a special enrollment period
-- Death: You will be eligible for a special enrollment period if someone on your Marketplace plan dies and as a result you are no longer eligible for your current health plan.
-- Changing residenceHousehold moves that qualify you for a special enrollment period include ...
* Moving to a new home in a new ZIP code or country
* Moving to the United States from a foreign county or U.S. territory.
* A student moving to or from the place you attend school.
* A seasonal worker moving to or from the place you both live and work.
* Moving to or from a shelter or other transitional housing.
-- Gaining membership in a federally recognized tribe or status as an Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act (ANCSA) Corporation shareholder
-- Becoming newly eligible for Marketplace coverage because you became a U.S. citizen
-- Leaving incarceration
-- Starting or ending serve as an AmeriCorps state and national, VISTA, or NCCC member.
