May 2015 - Q2
Studies show that it is easier and as much as six times less expensive to sell to an existing customer than to acquire a new one.  If this is true, why do so few companies truly understand their customers?  Customer Intelligence (CI) is critical for businesses!  In this newsletter we are going to discuss CI.
What is Customer Intelligence (CI)?

Customer intelligence is information derived from customer data that an organization collects from both internal and external sources.  The purpose of CI is to understand customer motivations better in order to drive future growth.  It is critical for businesses to understand not only who their customers are, but why they buy from them.  This information will not only help them retain existing customers, but also help them find other similar customers.

All companies, regardless of size, should be seeking answers to these basic questions...

  1. Who is our ideal customer?
  2. What do they want?
  3. When do they want it?
  4. How do they want it?
  5. Why do they want it?

Understanding the who, what, when, how and why will help any business retain customers.

Internal Customer data can be collected by any customer interaction and is best stored in a customer relationship management (CRM) or corporate database.  However, even an Excel spreadsheet can work for some businesses!

Listening to your customers is the best way to gather CI!  Keeping detailed notes on all customers is key - whether they call into your call centre, help desk or you take them for lunch.  Be sure to detail all customer interaction.

White Glove Virtual Assistant can help you gather CI!  Let us help you input customer data into a CRM, create a customer survey or simply just add contacts into a database for starters!
