Do You Love Me?

It is a joy and privilege to join Covenant’s family of faith for a season. Most of you are aware that as your Interim/Transitional Pastor my ministry with you can last a year or more. My goal is to guide you through a process of knowing who you have been, who you are now and where you want to be as a family of faith, as disciples of Jesus Christ. I cannot promise you that this will be an easy journey, but I can promise you that God will be with us! This is a time of grieving for what was, missing Tracy and Jim, and a time of hope for the future and new pastoral leadership.

The future of the church is on everyone’s radar and good stewardship is going to play a critical part in developing a strong and healthy ministry, paving the way for your new pastor. This Sunday Katie and I are working together to share with you the key to being generous stewards of all that God has given us. In the gospel of John, chapter 21, Jesus provides us with sort of a job description for disciple wannabes, people who will be involved in the day-to-day work of caring for the people of God. He asks Peter three times, “Do you love me?”.

As we approach Covenant’s Dedication Sunday on May 12, it is wise to consider these questions; “Do I love Jesus?” If I do, if I am Jesus ’disciple, then how am I involved in the day-to-day work of caring for the people of God? Am I a good steward of all the gifts God has bestowed upon me?

Please join us this Sunday as we explore these questions and share in God’s grace at the Table of the Lord. I am very excited to worship, serve, and fellowship with all of you!

In Christ’s Service with You,
Pastor Jeri-Lynne
