Baker Book House published Jan Markell's book, Waiting for a Miracle, some years ago. Jan had a 21-year ordeal with serious chronic illness. We have brought the book back as it ministers greatly to those who suffer from chronic illness, undiagnosed illness, suffering, and even terminal illness. It is written in a short, devotional format.

Yes, health is the greatest wealth but millions of people don't have the luxury of being well--something most take for granted. For some, it is a lifetime of struggle. For others, it is temporary. Countless numbers of people wait for a miracle.

Many live a life of doctor visits, exams, tests, hospitalizations, pain, medications, disappointment, and shattered dreams. Affliction has broken relationships, emptied bank accounts, and destroyed futures. Many people have failing bodies through no fault of their own. We are in a broken world.

Everyone gets sick, but most find a cure, a medication, a procedure, or over time, they get well. Not all. Many have invisible illnesses and they suffer privately and they don't get a day off from it. Many never get well and must look towards eternity when all things are made new. In the meantime, how do we cope--even when hope seems lost?

This book has been updated by Jan and is also written to encourage the caregiver. We think you know someone who will be comforted by its content.

Below, Michele Bachmann interviews Jan on this topic in a 15-minute interview.

In this 15-minute video, Jan briefly shares her 21-year ordeal with "Chronic Fatigue Syndrome" with Michele Bachmann. Never give up hope. Jan was finally delivered from this ordeal in 2000. Learn of the struggle, but be encouraged, as you may have a miracle waiting as well.
