Greetings!

It makes me happy to get outside and move, even if it’s a short walk or ride through a park. The gentle challenges of small hills and easy but uneven ground give my body something different to do. And my joints feel better for it! How’s your mobility these days? Do your joints move freely or could you have stability issues that restrict your full movement? Read on to see how orthopedic massage can help you to maintain your mobility.

Joints: Mobility and Stability

Moving your body requires your joints to flex, extend, or rotate. But that can’t happen if they are not stable. Ligaments hold bones together at joints. Muscles and tendons move bones and stabilize the joints during movement. If the intended muscles aren’t strong enough to move or stabilize, others will be recruited to do the job. Your brain could see that as instability and tell the surrounding muscles to protect the joint, limiting your movement. And possibly creating some pain.

Orthopedic massage addresses joint mobility and painful movement issues. It can be incorporated into every massage session. We would perform some movement assessments to pinpoint what needs work. Treatment generally involves targeted, gentle myofascial, trigger point, deep tissue, and neuromuscular techniques, although it will be customized to your particular needs. Regular massage sessions can be the key to maintaining your mobility.
