July grants focus on Economic Stability as well as Health & Wellness

Applications for the next round of Hampton Roads Community Foundation community grants are due July 1.

Categories:

  • Economic Stability Community Grants, which focus on providing opportunities for people with barriers to success to become stable, self-sufficient, and prosperous.

  • Health & Wellness Community Grants, which focus on improving the health of the region's residents.

First, read the guidelines and eligibility requirements prior to starting an application. Learn more here.

After reading the guidelines and the eligibility requirements, the most important thing to do is to discuss your proposal with a program officer. Sign up here.
Talk to us before applying for a grant

Often, well-meaning nonprofit organizations submit applications for our grants without reviewing important information first.

This takes up your valuable time and makes it harder for your group to compete for a grant.

The Hampton Roads Community Foundation wants you to be successful in applying for our grants. One of the best things you can do before you apply is to talk with us.

We host monthly Call-In Days for nonprofit representatives so that you can talk to a program officer about ideas, ask questions about our grants, or update us about your organization. The next Call-In Day is June 10. Slots go fast, so sign up early by emailing Gina Kelly.

Nonprofit Hiring Strategies

There's good news and bad news: Across the nation, the nonprofit sector lost seven percent of jobs during the pandemic, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. However, if your nonprofit is hiring there's a good candidate pool.

´╗┐To ensure you get the best person for the job, try these strategies suggested by Candid:

  1. Create a detailed job description
  2. Build an inclusive work environment
  3. Survey current employees
  4. Provide training resources
