Take the Advancing Equity in Rezoning Survey

Thank you for sharing your voice about the rezoning process! Through the Advancing Equity in Rezoning project’s task force, a community meeting, and focus groups, community members have provided input about issues the project should address. We’ve heard about process improvements, such as updates to our public noticing system and making language throughout the process more accessible and understandable. We’ve heard about increasing clarity around how public feedback is used, and updating the review criteria the city uses to determine whether a rezoning project meets city goals. And we’ve heard about the desire to achieve more equitable outcomes, especially for underrepresented communities in Denver.

If you were unable to attend the community meeting, (if you missed it, you can watch the recording) or if you want to provide more feedback, we invite you to take the project survey!

Take the survey by May 31

Survey responses will be used to help identify the issues the project should solve and the goals that will guide the project moving forward. Please help spread the word by sharing the survey with your networks.

What comes next?

After feedback is collected, the project team will finalize the project's issues and goals and move on to the next stage of the project: evaluate the alternatives. In this phase, the task force and members of the public will help further evaluate, develop, and provide feedback on recommended changes that will solve for the identified goals and objectives.

Members of the public are welcome to attend and observe task force meetings, which typically occur every fourth Wednesday of the month from 3:00-5:00 p.m. Please also stay tuned to the website for additional opportunities to participate throughout the project.

Task force meeting materials, including the meeting recording, presentation, and notes, are posted after each meeting on our Project Archive section of the webpage.

Why are we doing this work?
As the city grows and changes, buildings and their uses change too. Refreshing the rezoning process will allow us to better incorporate Denver's values and priorities as articulated in Comprehensive Plan 2040andBlueprint Denver, both adopted in 2019. The Advancing Equity in Rezoning project aims to improve transparency and access to the rezoning process, consider the impact of rezonings on neighboring residents and properties, and explore how rezonings can lead to equitable outcomes that better serve all community members, such as access to open space, public transportation, housing and employment opportunities.
