Dear Hennepin Youth & Families
We're doing important ministry for youth and parents!

I know that a successful youth ministry requires both parents and youth who are seeing the value in participating. Our plans for Sunday reflect that. This Sunday at 1 pm youth work and youth parent Heather Alden and I are having a conversation on HAUMC's Facebook live at 1 pm about defining, identifying, and coping with youth stress. There will also be an important announcement about how parents can support each other as well!

During the 5 pm youth night zoom call, the youth will be hearing from Ann Carlson, as she shares the important work she and Hennepin have been supporting for students in Baiwalla, Sierra Leon, and inviting youth to help students on the other side of the planet work on their English and computer skills.

I hope you're having a great week!

Grace and Peace,

Rick

Don't Miss this Important Conversation!
Has this pandemic meant you've had to think about caring for your family differently than ever before? If so, you're not alone.

On Sunday April 11th at 1 pm check out Facebook Live to catch a conversation between Parent and Youth Worker Heather Alden and Rick Belbutoski about how to define, identify, and help youth manage the stress they're feeling.

The conversation will be packed with good info and perspective and a special announcement about how we can all support each other better going forward!
Save the First week of August for Serve MSP!
I want to invite you to save the first week in August for the upcoming Local Justice Mission. As an intentional response to the inequities that have been illuminated and amplified by the pandemic and killing of George Floyd in the hands of the Minneapolis Police, Hennepin youth will have the opportunity to join youth from all over the Twin Cities for a week of service. The local justice mission is a collaborative effort from five area United Methodist Church's and is open to middle and high school students. More details are coming soon. Please mark your calendars.
Earth Day is Coming

Youth and parents should are invited to participate in Earth Day Activities on April 1-22. Climate Bingo, is an activity where you download bingo cards and do the required action in them. Some of these actions are as simple as to turn your water off while brushing your teeth, not going over the speed limit, picking up trash, and recycling. When you do the actions, take a picture and post it on HAUMC Facebook page, Twitter, and/or Instagram. Make sure you tag #HennepinHOPE. Every household that posts pictures will receive a free box of Energy Star LED light bulbs!
