Orange County Government launched the OC MINDMATTERS initiative earlier this year specifically for our employees and their families. The goal is to build resilience and, most importantly, support each other through our individual journeys towards optimal mental health. We are in this together.

Below you'll find two mental health focused courses available through myOCLearn under "My Events." See below for more details.
OC MINDMATTERS: Helping Persons in Distress - July 28 at 1 p.m.
This is a QPR (Question Persuade Refer) Suicide Prevention course. The course is virtual and will be conducted live. As a result, video participation is strongly

QPR is evidence-based and considered a best practice by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration.
The goals of this course are to:

  • Debunk common myths about suicide
  • Review suicide risk factors and warning signs
  • Learn how to ask about suicide, listen to someone's struggles, and get the person to help
OC MINDMATTERS: Domestic Violence - August 9 at 12 p.m.
According to CDC, in 2017, forms of domestic violence could affect up to 1 in 4 women and 1 in 7 men in America at some point in their lifetime.

Domestic Violence is not limited to physical forms of battery or abuse. It can take many forms.
At the end of this workshop, you will be able to:

  • Learn facts relating to age, gender, race and geographical location of domestic violence
  • Recognize signs and types of domestic violence
  • Understand how to support a friend or relative who has confided in you
  • Know a variety of resources for help
