The Rise and Promise of Humanism
Sunday, November 10, 2019 10:45am
Guest Speaker, Bill Zigrone

Humanism appears to be growing implicitly in the younger generations. There is a strong trend away from conservatism and religion, that is not necessarily explained by secular and humanist activism. The more educated and less patriarchal society becomes, the more empathy and tolerance becomes the norm. There is great promise in our future.

Bill Zigrone is an author, lecturer on Developmental Psychology and Illinois chair of the Secular Coalition for America. He blogs regularly at "Dispatches from the New Enlightenment" .

Our offering today will go to TLS Veterans. See Social Justice Notes below to learn more about the great work this group is doing.

Holiday Pause for Self-Kindness
Let’s take a holiday pause for centering ourselves.  Join us as we spend some time reflecting on where and how we are, and exploring ways to offer ourselves loving kindness. Attention and self-care can bring us to a moment of gratitude and help us to then offer the best of ourselves to others and to all that we would do.
Program prepared by M. E. Tanabe and Brenda Cox, we’ll gather December 1, 2019, 9:15– 10:15 am , in the basement social room. For additional info, please click here.   And for questions, please call or e-mail Brenda at 815-482-8672   brendakay710@ gmail .com
