Do You Remember 2008?
Dec 2008 Calendar
[
This is a partial reprint of a newsletter I did back in December 2008 -- it is relevant because although the topic (then the economy) has changed (now politics/racism/terrorism), fear mongering is still being used in an attempt to manipulate our emotions and our actions. As you read this, keep that in mind because what was true in 2008 is still true as we move closer to 2018]
From 2008:

At no other time in my life can I remember when we've been bombarded with more fear than we are today. The media constantly tells us how bad the economy is, how bleak our future is, how futile are any attempts to better ourselves. Even when something positive happens, there is always the caveat that the improvement could be temporary or is subject to failure.

A Japanese Proverb: Fear is only as deep as the mind allows

Fearful Woman
Fear is a waste of energy
and can be identified by the emotions it evokes: doubt, worry, indecision, and procrastination just to name a few.

Fear is paralyzing and it is the single best manipulation tactic around. If we allow ourselves to accept what we're being told, if we live in a state of fear, we are virtually unable to change things for the better and may even perpetuate the situations that cause us pain simply by making fear-based choices.

Our way out of paralysis is to ignore the fear-mongers, set clear intentions, identify how to accomplish our goals, visualize positive results and believe in our ability to be successful.

A very dear friend of mine recently posed this question: "If you could see your future and see that it is filled with abundance, that all your dreams come true and that you are happier than you ever imagined, how would you live your life right now?"

That simple sentence resonated with me. No matter what we're being told, no matter what we're experiencing, we are in charge of our own life and must take responsibility for our success and happiness. We must express our gratitude for that which is good in our lives.

[End 2008 newsletter]

Abraham Lincoln once said, "Most people are about as happy as they make up their minds up to be". This is a quote that has been posted on my refrigerator for the last (literally) 40 years.

Jumping from 2017 to 2018
As we enter the final few weeks of 2017, let's all make the effort to appreciate what we do have and to share that joy with others.

Something as small as a genuine smile will brighten someone's day. A simple act of kindness will lift another's spirits. Believe in your ability to truly have whatever it is you want in this life and take the steps that will get you there.

Spread positive words, thoughts and emotions and watch as they bounce back to you as joy, opportunity, prosperity, and success.

I am a firm believer in the power of positive thought and visualization. I have used both throughout my life with powerful results. This holiday season, turn off the TV, stop reading the news on the internet, look up from your phone and see the beauty and love all around you.

It is there for the taking....
Disneyland Update...
Happy Birthday at Disneyland
As you might imagine, I wrote the newsletter about my birthday before my birthday actually occurred. I knew the kids and Dan planned a trip to Disneyland for my 60th but that's about all I knew.
As it turned out, we camped at a fabulous RV park, Anaheim RV Park -- super affordable, only 1.5 miles from Disneyland with a shuttle and lovely amenities! Highly recommend!
We did two days at Disneyland and honestly, I had the time of my life! On Sunday there were 11 of us and on Monday there were 9 and we rode just about everything in the park multiple times. Plus you can't beat the holiday décor and fun at Disneyland!
Grandkids at Disneyland
The best part of the weekend though, was spending time with my kids and grandkids! Especially my 8 yr old granddaughter and 11 year old grandson! Neither of them had experienced any of the E-ticket (aka BIG) rides before so it was their first time on Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, Pirates, Thunder Mountain etc!
Their reactions -- at first shock, then unbridled joy -- made my heart happy! And if you care at all, we walked over 15 miles in those two days! Thanks FitBit... not sure I wanted to know!
All in all it was the best birthday of my life! I wish we could do that every weekend!
PS, my kids did not know what an "E-ticket ride" was! If you don't know, email me and I'll tell you!
It Takes a (Santa) Village...
Since we're talking about gratitude and joy, I have to tell you that it takes two teams to keep Executive Errands® successful.
Christmas Village
There is our internal team of employees -- Robin, Tim, Joanne, and Lynda plus Jayesh and Rachel, and our external team of vendors, all of whom put a great face on this company!
I can't even tell you how grateful I am to have these people in my life. It was a bumpy year getting here, but we have an amazing team; each of whom truly strives to make a difference for our clients; they follow all of our procedures and they genuinely care about the mission of this company.
And our suite of vendors all go above and beyond -- particularly for last minute requests so each of our clients feel like they are our only client!
Who can ask for more than that? I feel like we are poised to take the next big step as a company -- I can feel it and I can see it (visualize it). I can't wait to experience what 2018 brings!

History, as we all know, repeats itself. The economic downturn of 2008 - 2010 has thankfully not repeated itself yet, but there are other scary things out there; not the least of which are the mass casualties from misguided or lost souls.
Never Let Fear Graphic
These events and the histrionics of people with their own agendas can introduce fear into our consciousness if we let it. And that fear can cripple us, cause us to make poor decisions and may even change the course of our lives.
I for one refuse. Instead I choose take charge of my life and to focus on the positive and the good around me.
William Arthur Ward once said, 'Feeling gratitude and not expressing it is like wrapping a present and not giving it'. It's the holiday season! I'm going to give all the presents I can!
And that means I'm also going to freely express my gratitude for the abundance in my life. Who would have thought, that at 60, I would have a loving partner (plus his whole family), the most amazing kids and grandkids ever and not one but two successful businesses?
Let's not forget my friends and colleagues too, all of whom have been consistently there for me!
Happy Holidays and Happy New Year_
I am beyond blessed. And the cool thing is, anyone can have this much goodness in their life. You have to believe you deserve it and you have to visualize it but if you focus on what you want; if you're willing to work for it... although it might take some time; still, somehow it magically shows up!
Until next time, may your holidays be joyful, your life abundant and your gratitude run deep. And I'm curious... how do you combat fear-mongering? Let me know...
Happy Holidays!
