During the school year, weekdays are reserved for school use only. The new courts are being used by Physical Education classes, the High School Boys and Girls Tennis teams and by the children during recess.

Senior Blake Hord is seeing stars! He was named both a Regional and a National Finalist in the Siemens Competition in Math, Science & Technology. There were only 20 finalists in the nation and he was the only one in New York State! He headed to Washington DC earlier this week to compete in the final phase of the competition where he came in 6th and earned a $10,000 scholarship. Middle School Makey Makey Kits
Middle School STEM 7 students in Lynette Colon's class are exploring the "connection" between electrical circuits and their Google Chromebooks. The current flows out of their Chromebooks, through electrical wires to an external Makey Makey board.  At that point, students can continue the circuit using any materials including a piece of fruit, a ruler or their own bodies. Imagine tapping a banana or your nose to insert spaces into your Google document! Thank you to the Dobbs Ferry Schools Foundation for providing funding for STEM equipment.
Springhurst Pajamas Stuff-a-Bus
Students (K-5) collected 120 pairs of new pajamas and 280 new books to donate to the Pajama Program. The PJ's and books will be distributed over the holidays to needy children of all ages throughout Westchester County, including organizations in the Rivertowns. Thank you Holly Cicero, Sue Frey, Lisa Doty and the DASA committee for organizing this wonderful event. Springhurst was the first stop this fall for the "Stuff a Bus" campaign.
