WILL YOU PLEASE TAKE OUR SURVEY?

Drugs are killing more Coloradans than ever.
Opioids, methamphetamines, cocaine and other substances claimed the lives of 912 Coloradans in 2016, an all-time high, according to the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE).

That's more than the 627 Coloradans who died in a car crash in 2016 and more than the 532 who died of flu that year.

Introducing the Post-Acute Care Continuity Plan

The push for care coordination improvement, penalties for avoidable readmissions, and consumer adoption of intelligent technologies are trends entrenched in the practice of care. All three are reshaping the healthcare landscape based on one simple fact: It's much less expensive for a patient to embrace self-care strategies to treat new or recurring symptoms than to end up in the hospital.  The solution involves a two-part strategy:

Introduce a self-care post-acute care continuity plan that expands beyond the hospital and is entirely e-transaction focused
Maintain patient oversight at home or other post-acute care setting through a connected care team

Home health care workers report inadequate support from employers

Home health care work is not only physically demanding, but also emotionally taxing. Home care workers do an enormous amount of emotional labor to keep clients feeling safe, calm and happy. This work can be rewarding but also very stressful. The stressful aspects often go unrecognized and are not reflected in job descriptions, training, or pay.

CDC urges public to get flu shot by end of October

The CDC on Sept. 7 recommended all individuals six months and older receive a seasonal flu vaccine, ideally by the end of October.

People develop antibodies against the flu about two weeks after vaccination, so they should receive a flu shot before the virus starts spreading through their community, according to the agency.

The push to receive the seasonal flu vaccine by the end of October could place significant demand on healthcare providers and urgent care centers to provide the inoculation.

The CDC instructs people with the flu to stay home, not travel and avoid contact with other people, except to receive medical care.
