Simply put, after eight years of occupying the Oval Office,  built by Americans of African descent during the tyranny of enslavement, the country's first African American President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama still will not host a Juneteenth Celebration at the White House.

President Obama will not issue a Juneteenth Proclamation or personally acknowledge the importance of Juneteenth before the nation.

President Obama, who supported Juneteenth legislation as a State Senator and U.S. Senator from Illinois, will not work with the the U.S. Congress to sign legislation to make Juneteenth a National Day of Observance in America, like Flag Day and Patriot Day.

President Obama will not issue a "19th of June" - Juneteenth - World Sickle Cell Day Proclamation, declared by the United Nations and supported by Juneteenth Celebrations across the nation.
