Dog Days and First Fri-days
|
|
Goodbye July. August is upon us, bringing with her the unexpected evening cheer of an urban lightning bug, and the rise and fall of the cicada thrum. In August, it's always a pleasure to partake of neighbor Logan's mid-city Dog Days. Check out house tour sponsor Miss Pixie's for reliably cool fun on 14th Street. And let us not forget our own Dupont First Friday Open Art Galleries brought to us by Historic Main Streets. Next week is an important ANC meeting. The 17th Street Festival awaits closer to the end of the month, and many more local events in between.
August is also the month when your
House Tour committee is sweating the finalization of a selection of historic homes. We are thrilled to announce that the Belmont Mansion will be our tea site. Only once a decade! The next time we write, we will send the link to a new website for you to purchase tickets or sign up to volunteer. No matter how you do the tour, be sure to reserve Sunday October 21 for the 51st Dupont Circle House Tour.

Weekly Watering Alert: Optional
While we hopefully won't receive as much rain as we got last week, there is still rain in the forecast. Monitor the soil by your young trees and water them if needed.
After a long week of rain and flooding in the District, our friends at Casey Trees do a nice job describing the critical role our trees and plantings play in protecting our rivers and watersheds from pollution and runoff.
