It's the Dog Days of Summer! If you've ever wondered why the hot, humid days of summer are called Dog Days, here's the answer! Hint: it's about stars, not puppies!

What's Up at the Book Club?
We've had a couple of meetings and enjoyed discussing our first two books, U is for Undertow by Sue Grafton and The Guest List by Lucy Foley.

Our next meeting will be Wednesday August 11th at 1pm when we'll discuss a Gentlemen in Moscow by Amor Towles.

Recipe of the Week!
Another hot weather salad, thanks to Penny for this "Meal For One"
Spinach Salad

Ingredients
Rotisserie chicken (optional)
1 ½ cups of spinach
1/3 cup of thinly sliced red onion
1/3 cup of pecans 
½ nectarine in slices

Dressing
1/2 nectarine in chunks
1 Tablespoon of maple syrup
1 ½ Tablespoon of canola oil
1 lime, juice and zest
Salt to taste
Pinch of chili powder
 
Put the dressing ingredients into a mini blender and blend. Pour over salad.
Enjoy!

Starting out with some small adventures might be a good way to get back into travelling and finding out how to navigate the post Covid world. Join us as Laila reveals new and unexpected treasures right here in our own province!
