Gerald D. Frazee
November 9, 1948 - August 2, 2018
The JSRC mourns the passing of long-time member Gerald Frazee . An avid runner, you could often see him running the boards for fun and he completed three New York city Marathons. Jerry was a past club President as well as a director for multiple Club events, including the Lake Como 5K and Day at the Races. We offer our heartfelt condolences his wife JoAnne Frazee and his step-son Thomas LaSala.
Visitation will be Sunday, August 5, 2018 from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. at O’Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy 35 at New Bedford Rd., Wall. A funeral service will be offered Sunday, 5 pm at the funeral home. Committal will be private. Donations may be made in his name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
Please keep Jerry's family in your thoughts and prayers.
Meet Our New Members
New Members
at our July Meeting:
  • Melissa Wixon: Melissa is from Howell. She saw our tent at the Spring Lake 5 and promptly joined JSRC.
  • Jenny Morrissey: Joe Iovelli convinced her JSRC was a good Club to join and she attended the famous JSRC Gala—now she's a member!
  • Barbara Vargas: Barbara was our featured new member in our July issue and this was her first meeting. Barbara is from Sayreville. November was her first time running ever. She's lost 110 pounds and fell in love with running, Now has fallen for the Club!
Members on the Run:
  • John Walsh: John rode his bike from Buffalo to Albany along the Erie Canal it was a great trip although some boobs ran him off the trai. John is now a historian on the development of Irish heritage on the creation of Cleveland, Akron, Buffalo, Rome, Rochester, etc. He presented a great history lesson to the Club.
  • Kathy Harbort: Congratulations to Kathy for competing in the Olympic NJ State Triathalon (Double Down Challenge)! She also had the dubious distinction of being the oldest woman to complete (by seven years)!
Stephanie Smith
I've been running for almost four years, and picked it up as I'm not a fan of gyms, but needed some type of activity to reduce stress and help clear my mind of clutter. I've run several half marathons (I try for two a year), 10Ks, 5-Milers, and 5Ks (when I'm not nursing an injury!) Recent runs included the NJ Half Marathon, Run the Hook 10K, The Red Bank Classic, and the Belmar 5 Mile Run. I've entered my name in the NYC marathon lottery for the last two years, but was not selected either year. My current running schedule is
a bit off, but my goal is three to four runs per week (varying lengths - but a minimum of three miles each).

I'm presently ex-Pharma (24 years in research) turned Realtor (Heritage House Sotheby's International Realty - Shrewsbury). My husband and I just moved to the area (Red Bank) a year ago from Somerset County, and absolutely love our new area (the move was life changing!) So many interests in addition to running: cooking, good food, wine, reading, live music/concerts, our rescue pups, working to get more involved in the community, supporting local businesses and non-profits, amateur minimalist, and in general just trying to be a good person and live with intention.

My running motivation over the last few months is not quite where I'd like it to be, so I am trying to improve my dedication and feel that my joining this running club may help me in this area, as well as the added benefit of meeting some awesome people!
