A Message from the Principals

Whether in the classroom or miles apart,
we are all DOLPHINS in our heart!

We absolutely cannot wait to see you or "see" you on Monday!  We have been busy planning, learning, preparing, and missing you.  Our teachers and staff are ready to get back to what we do best - loving and educating children.  As we return to school, our first goals are to ensure that students are safe and feel loved.  Thank you for sharing your greatest treasures with us.  That is a trust that we never take for granted.  As with any school year, is everything going to be perfect on day one?  No - there are always kinks to work out and ways to do things better.  We appreciate your grace and understanding.  If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to us!
Get some rest, Dolphins!  We will see you soon!
Mrs. Woody, Dr. Fisher, and Mrs. Phipps

Please make sure that your child knows how they will get home from school.  Attach a card to their backpack with the following information:
  • Bus Riders: Student Name, Grade, Address, Bus Stop
  • Car Riders: Car Number - If you don't have a number yet simply write car rider and we will get you a number once they come in.
  • Day Care: Name of Day Care
  • Walkers/Bike Rider- Designate on a tag on their back pack.
We have compiled a list of questions that you may have!  Please see the DES FAQs.
First Day of School

During Virtual Meet the Teacher, teachers reviewed with students where their new classroom is and how to get there on Monday morning, August 17. You can also review this school map with your child.  The school will have all available staff, assistants and teachers throughout the halls helping our students to their rooms. If you ordered a pre-packaged school supply box, it will be in the classroom upon arrival. If you purchased your own school supplies, students are encouraged to bring what they can safely carry on their own over the course of the first few days.

We are looking forward to a great year!
School Supplies

The My School Bucks store is still open!  You can get your class t-shirt, spirit t-shirt (not required), agenda book (4/5), chair bag (K-3), and communication folder (2-5). Dogwood customized masks and gaiters are also available on MySchoolBucks!

All items purchased from MySchoolBucks will be delivered to your child's classroom when they arrive.
Morning Drop-off and Car line

Get your playlist and your patience ready! Car line is just around the corner (and down the street, and around the bend)! The start of school means it's time for a few friendly reminders about car line.

Please remember that car line will be long and slow for the first few weeks of school as parents and students acclimate. So put in your favorite tunes and enjoy the time with your kiddos before drop off and the quiet time before pick up!

Allergy Action Plan

Parents of students with life-threatening allergies will need to complete the new TN Department of Health Allergy Action Plan, which will replace the GMSD form for children with allergies. All other medication stored at school will continue to use the GMSD form.

Please fill out the form, have it signed by your doctor, and bring your child's medication to the school. Nurse Madhi cannot accept any medications until the form is completed and signed by the doctor.

At-Home Wellness Screenings

Each student must complete a daily, at-home wellness screening.   GMSD has made this process easy for parents.  In our Skyward Family Access Portal (used for online registration, viewing student grades, etc.) a Wellness Screening button has been added.  This function is available in both the desktop and mobile app versions of Skyward.

Please take a moment to review step-by-step directions for utilizing both the desktop and mobile versions of the Wellness Screening: GMSD Daily Wellness Screening Step Sheet. The button will become active beginning on Monday.  Our school staff will partner with families to develop this as a daily habit of all parents.
