Meet the Teacher

Our Meet the Teacher event will be virtual this year.
Homeroom teachers will send an email to parents the evening of Thursday, August 13th that will include times and a link to the Virtual Meet the Teacher event for your class that will take place the following day- Friday, August 14th.

Please note that this is for families to have a quick introduction to their teacher. Grade-Level Curriculum Nights will be announced at a later date.

Additional Kindergarten Information:
Kindergarten teachers will contact parents regarding a staggered schedule and drop off information for the week of August 17th. Kindergarten teachers will participate in the virtual Meet the Teacher event on Friday, August 14th as well as host a Kindergarten parent meeting virtually on Friday, August 21st.
First Day of School

During your Virtual Meet the Teacher, teachers will review with students where their new classroom is and how to get there on Monday morning, August 17. The school will have all available staff, assistants and teachers throughout the halls helping our students to their rooms. If you ordered a pre-packaged school supply box, it will be in the classroom upon arrival. If you purchased your own school supplies, students are encouraged to bring what they can safely carry on their own over the course of the first few days.
Also, our PTO will have a welcome committee set up outside of the school for "first day" fun. We know this is an unusual start to the school year, but we want our children to feel excited and welcome as they start the new year! Whether you are starting school in the building or at home, we are all ONE community. Please share your first day of school pictures by tagging Dogwood Elementary (@dogwoodes) on Instagram and using our new gifs, created by Nabiha Huda, on Instagram, Facebook Messenger and Twitter. Just search for dolphinlife
As always, as more information is finalized we will send it out via our Facebook page and email. With a little flexibility and grace, we'll get through this!
School Supplies

School supply boxes have been delivered to the school for those that ordered. If your child is attending school in person, their supply box will be in their classroom the first day of classes. If you have chosen the virtual option, we will announce a pick up date in the near future!

You can use the grade-level supply lists to purchase all needed items for the school year.  .

The My School Bucks store is open!  You can get your class t-shirt, spirit t-shirt (not required), agenda book (4/5), chair bag (K-3), and communication folder (2-5). Dogwood customized masks and gaiters are also available on MySchoolBucks!
A Message for New Families

We are very excited to be offering in-person school tours of Dogwood Elementary on August 13th and 14th. This will be offered for our New Families only. We are so excited to have you as a part of the Dogwood family and proud to let you see inside the school walls since completion of many upgrades.

The tours will be held in groups of 10-15 and everyone will need to wear masks. They will last approximately 30 minutes and be led by one of our fantastic PTO volunteers. Please park and meet at the front entrance located next to the circular parking lot.

You may also direct any new family questions to Katie Laird, PTO New Parent Liaison.  Welcome to Dogwood!

There is still time to complete your READO forms to earn your summer reading reward! Instructions for completion are included on the K-2 READO and the 3-5 READO forms.  Happy reading!

2020-2021 Registration

We need your help!  If you have not yet registered for school (which would include ALL students new, returning, whether in-person or fully virtual) please complete the process as soon as possible.  Our staff needs accurate numbers of students enrolled in all of our programs to plan individual student schedules and staffing.  These numbers are crucial for planning and communicating our Road to Reopen Plans at the individual school levels.

Treasures for Teachers

The Germantown Education Foundation (GEF) is proudly partnering with Knowledge Tree for our fourth annual Treasures for Teachers campaign.

Our goal is to provide each GMSD teacher with $100 for classroom supplies. Knowledge Tree is graciously adding $20 to each $100 gift, making your donation go even farther.

Please click here to fill out the sponsorship form, and then click here to pay for your donation.

Questions? Please email the Germantown Education Foundation.  Thank you for helping our teachers get the supplies they need! We thank you, and our teachers thank you.
