Germantown Holiday Parade

Lining the City streets, residents watch as decorated floats, horses, school groups, clubs and booming marching bands slowly make their way along the parade route. Be sure to stay until the end to get a glimpse of Santa aboard a Germantown Fire Truck.

In support of the U.S. Marine Reserves Toys for Tots organization, uniformed Marines and volunteers will travel along the parade route to collect new, unwrapped toys for children.

The parade begins at the corner of Kimbrough Road and Farmington Blvd, proceeds west on Farmington to Exeter Road, turns north on Exeter and ends at the Germantown Athletic Club.
For more information or to participate, contact Michelle Forbert at 757-7638.
Rain date is December 15.

Ms. Martens (Room C 32) and Ms. Brown (Room SE 5) are collecting large bags of candy to distribute along the parade route from atop the Dogwood Elementary float.  Please send in candy donations by December 13th.  Thank you!

Classic Book Challenge

The library is running a Classic Book Challenge for the month of December.  Any student who reads a classic children's story (think fairy tales, myths, treasured/timeless stories) and takes a passing Accelerated Reader (AR) test, will be entered into a drawing for a Barnes and Noble gift card.  Students must read books on their AR level and if a student reads a novel (chapter book), they will receive two entries. You can use this link for inspiration to help your child find a book to read.

Anonymous Alerts

What is the Anonymous Alerts app?
The Anonymous Alerts anti-bullying and safety app reporting system helps combat bullying and other negative activity in schools by empowering students to speak up. Social and peer pressure are some of the hardest obstacles for students to overcome.

The system allows for 1-way or 2-way anonymous encrypted communications between submitters (students, parents or community members) and district administration and/or school staff. Users of the system have the option to remain anonymous or to reveal their identity when submitting a report.

How does it work?
To use this revolutionary new app, students, parents or other school personnel can simply visit the Germantown Municipal School District website and click on the "Anonymous Alerts" button or text link to submit a report expressing their concern.

Anonymous AlertsĀ® mobile applications can be downloaded directly from the Apple, Google Play or the Chrome stores.

Days of Praise
We will continue our annual Dogwood Days of Praise this week on the PTO Facebook and Bloomz groups.  Days of Praise is a way to recognize our amazing Dogwood teachers, administration, and staff.

If you would like to share something praiseworthy about a Dogwood teacher, administrator, or staff member, simply post your praise as a comment on the appropriate day. Thanks for helping us recognize our fabulous teachers and staff this holiday season!

Days of Praise Spotlight-  Mrs. Becky Borgman

Mrs. Becky Borgman, Dogwood's Occupational T herapist, created a one-of-a-kind sensory path for the hallways at Dogwood.  While there are various configurations of sensory paths available for purchase, Mrs. Borgman created and put together her unique sensory path to meet the needs of her students.  It is fantastic and all of the kids love it!  We are so thankful for Mrs. Borgman's ingenuity and dedication to our Dolphins!  It is the amazing teachers and staff, like her, who always go above and beyond that make Dogwood such a special school!

"Mrs. Borgman does such an amazing job each and every day!"

Shout Outs!

Thank you to Stacy High for planning an absolutely perfect night for our girls! The Dolphin Tale Ball was so much fun. We appreciate all of our volunteers.  Thank you to everyone who helped out.  A big shout out to Nabiha Huda, our PTO VP of Events, who always works so hard to make each and every event a success.

The Dogwood community is the best!! There are so many people who serve our students, teachers, and families so well that we would like to recognize them more publicly throughout the year. If you have a shout out for a student, teacher, parent, or administrator any time throughout the year, please email it to
Elizabeth Gates .
