Dogwood Cross Country

We are so proud of the Dogwood runners for competing in the National Youth Cross Country Championships in Louisville, KY. So fun to see all these fast teams! We had three kids place top 25 and earn a medal. Myles Martin placed 14th in 9 year old division, Linley Curry placed 10th in 6 year old division and Ben Turman placed 14th in 6 year old division. Our 9 and 10 boys placed 12th and 11 year old girls placed 29th.

Dogwood Days of Praise

On Monday, December 3rd we will kick off our annual Dogwood Days of Praise , which recognizes our amazing Dogwood teachers, admin and staff. This is a great way to encourage your favorite Dogwood teachers. We would love to recognize everyone in the building!

This year we will open each day with a Facebook and Bloomz post for a different group of teachers and staff and cover everyone over 12 days.

If you would like to share something praiseworthy about a Dogwood teacher, admin or staff member, simply post your praise as a comment on the appropriate day. Thanks for helping us recognize our fabulous teachers and staff this holiday season!

School Policy Reminders

Parents we need your help with the safety and security of all students. Here's how you can help:

GMSD policy is to have your ID prepared at all times when checking out your children.  It is for the safety of the students and efficiency at the front desk.

In addition, the new GMSD procedure is to have all Visitors present ID and check in and out with the main desk. This procedure is in effect immediately.

Thank you,
Teresa Price

A Message from the School Nurse

Nurse Maddie needs your help! It's that time of year, which means the Nurse's Office is staying busy! We can help ease the traffic by volunteering in the Health Room to provide assistance with simple needs such as band-aids, temperature check, and/or a phone call to a parent. This helps Nurse Maddie to be more available to students that require a skilled nurse.

Shifts run from 11:00 am - 2:00 pm, but we are happy to have your help even if for a shorter time frame (just leave a comment when you sign up). Please consider signing up for a shift and let's try to get the Health Room staffed through the end of the year! Thank you for supporting Dogwood!

Also, please do not send children to school with any medication. All medication (including cough drops) must come to Nurse Maddie from a parent.

All grades are working on a new skill in P.E. called Speed Stacking.

Speed Stacking helps to develop:

  • Hand-eye coordination
  • Bilateral proficiency (using both sides of body and brain)
  • Tracking and crossing the mid-line (Reading)
  • Sequencing and patterning (Science and Math)

You can order Speed Stacking cups at www.speedstacks.com or through your Amazon Smile account. They would make a great gift for any student!
