PTO Meeting

The next PTO meeting will be held Tuesday, October 8 at 6:15 PM in the Dogwood cafeteria.  Mrs. Price will be presenting on the "State of Our School", so you don't want to miss it! 

If you still have not received your yard sign from the Donation Drive, they will be available for pickup at the meeting. You can also email the PTO to arrange an alternate pickup.

If you are unable to attend, the meeting will be streamed live on the Dogwood PTO facebook page.
Book Fair

Our Book Fair will be held on Tuesday, October 29th.  We are looking forward to seeing everyone at this fun event!

Volunteers are needed to help make this event a success.  If you are able to help, sign up here

Haunted Houston

Save the date!   Haunted Houston will be held  OCTOBER 25 AND 26 FROM 6-9 PM at Houston Middle School.

Purchase tickets online before October 24 to receive a $5 discount.   Tickets purchased online can be picked up at the Will Call Table at the door.

*Bouncy Houses, face painting, and fun zone games ($1-3 each)
*Food includes Marco's pizza, Huey's, Commissary, donuts, chips,  Buntinis, candy, and drinks ($1-5 each)
*Tour through the Haunted Hallway of HMS ($5)

Entrance is free.  Tickets will be good for all purchases a t this event and are valid both nights.

Counselor's Corner

The counseling department is ready to start the next round of small groups.  We are offering small groups on the following topics based on feedback from parents and teachers.

  • Coping/stress management
  • Friendship
  • Social Skills & Conflict Resolution
  • Behavior

If you have a child(ren) who could benefit from additional small group support, please let us know.  We will send home group information and permission forms.  All groups will occur during the school day for 30 minutes once a week.  Group sessions will last 6 weeks.

Teacher of the Month Nominations

The Germantown Education Commission honors a teacher each month during the school year. Winners are selected from those nominated by parents, students, teachers or school administrators. Awards are presented monthly during meetings of the Germantown Board of Mayor and Aldermen. 

The purpose of this award is to recognize teachers who make a significant difference in the lives of his/her students, the school in which he/she teaches, and the Germantown community.

Nomination Criteria:
1. The nominee must demonstrate excellence in teaching and community service. 
2. The nominee must teach in a Germantown school, public or private.
3. The nominee does not need to reside in Germantown.
4. Each application must include two letters of recommendation.

To nominate a teacher, fill out a nomination form.
Choose to Be NICE

The following students received a Dolphin Dollar and were invited to sign the Choose to Be NICE wall in the cafeteria this week:

Thank you to Paula Bailey for organizing a fantastic Walk/Bike to School Day!  Thank you to Mrs. Price for leading our first ever Walking School Bus.  We really appreciate Leigh Osborne, Carie Alley, Yan Gao, Molly Opferman, Jansje Roberts, Karen Viotti, and our Student Ambassadors for helping out!

Thank you to Kathryn Nelson for volunteering in the health room on Monday and thank you to Brandon Wilmoth and Hallie Peay for helping in the lunchroom on Friday!

The Dogwood community is the best!! There are so many people who serve our students, teachers, and families so well that we would like to recognize them more publicly throughout the year.
