Family Donation Drive

We raised $32,329 for Dogwood Elementary! Way to go, Dolphins! Thank you to every family that donated!  The money raised will be donated directly to Dogwood Elementary to support our students and teachers. The PTO will share details as the plans for an outdoor classroom come together. 

Yard signs will be available for pick up at the PTO meeting at 9:00 am on Tuesday, September 17th. Please email to make other arrangements to pick up your sign.
Diary of a Wimpy Kid Pre-Order

Jeff Kinney's newest book is scheduled to go on sale November 5, 2019. Our Scholastic Book Fair is offering a specially-priced paperback edition of Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Wrecking Ball.  To order a copy, complete a pre-sale form and return by October 2, 2019.

Box Tops for Education

The class who earns the highest amount through September 27th will win a pizza party!  Watch this video to learn more about how easy the new program is to use.  Get the new Box Tops app and scan your receipts within 14 days of purchase.  Then go to -- school earnings -- your activity-- and print your sheet and send in to your child's homeroom teacher.  If you have more than one student, we will count it for all their homerooms.  Just send in a copy of the sheet with each child.  You can still send in paper box tops, too!
Choose to Be NICE

We are continuing to recruit volunteers for staffing the Health Room, cafeteria volunteers for kindergarten lunch, Picture Day volunteers, and volunteers for Family Movie Night. Shout Outs!

Shout out Mrs. Phipps and Ms. Perry for planning and hosting such a fun night for our students and their grandparents! Thank you to all the teachers who helped out with Grandparents' Bingo Night, especially the best Bingo announcer this side of the Mississippi - Mr. Bozeman!

Angst Movie Screening

Germantown Presbyterian Church will be hosting a screening of the movie Angst on Sunday September 15 at 4:30pm in the Germantown Presbyterian Church sanctuary, at  2363 Germantown Road South,  Germantown, TN 38138.

The goal of the documentary is designed to raise awareness about anxiety, understand the symptoms of anxiety and encourage everyone to reach out for help.  The film is geared for ages 10 and up. 

There is a great panel lined up for discussion after the film.

Houston High College and Career Fair
September 19, 10:15 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Houston High School is home to over 1,900 students.   We need your help in connecting them to different, local career pathways.   Houston High School is hosting its first ever College and Career Readiness Fair for students.   Traditionally, the school has invited in local colleges but is opening the door to include local businesses as well.   Come be a part of the inaugural year.  We are seeking people in various career paths:

  • Medical
  • Military
  • Law Enforcement/Criminal Justice
  • Manufacturing
  • STEM

  • Cybersecurity
  • Nutrition
  • Finance/Accounting
  • Marketing/Communications
  • Fine Arts/Television Media

  • Graphic Design/Visual Arts
  • AgroSciences
  • Local Entrepreneurs
  • Information Technology
  • Mental Health/Counseling

We are hoping to have multiple representatives from each pathway listed above.   Houston High School will supply your business with a 4 foot section of table top or larger floor space if desired.  

We are also offering affordable sponsorship opportunities ranging from $600 to $2,000 which will include naming rights for the Career Pathway Banners and Student Swag Bags.    Or, if your organization is willing to supply bags, please let us know.
Dogwood Movie Night- September 27, 2019!

We can't wait to see you at Family Movie Night, featuring the film UP! The fun starts on Friday, September 27th at 6:15 with food trucks and activities.  Volunteers are needed to make this fun for the whole family event happen!  Please see the Sign Up Genius for opportunities before, during, and after the event.

Walk/Run to End Childhood Cancer

September is Childhood Cancer Awareness month and St. Jude hosts is annual Walk/Run to End Childhood Cancer on September 28th. 

This is a great community event and one of the only public events hosted on St. Jude's Campus.  

Registration is only $10 to walk and $20 for a timed bib.  The Walk/Run is a 5K.  There are volunteer opportunities as well.
