Family Movie Night

Family Movie Night is THIS FRIDAY , September 27th, behind Dogwood.  Activities and Food Trucks will be open at 6:15 and the movie starts at 7:15.  Be sure to keep an eye on Facebook or Bloomz this week for some fun announcements about the event!!  Volunteers are still needed;  click here  to see the opportunities available.  Contact Tina Thorn with any questions.

Walk/Run to End Childhood Cancer

September is Childhood Cancer Awareness month and St. Jude hosts is annual Walk/Run to End Childhood Cancer on September 28th. 

This is a great community event and one of the only public events hosted on St. Jude's Campus.  

Registration is only $10 to walk and $20 for a timed bib.  The Walk/Run is a 5K.  There are volunteer opportunities as well.

Box Tops for Education

The class who earns the highest amount through September 27th will win a pizza party!  Watch this video to learn more about how easy the new program is to use.  Get the new Box Tops app and scan your receipts within 14 days of purchase.  Then go to  www.btfe.com -- school earnings -- your activity-- and print your sheet and send in to your child's homeroom teacher.  If you have more than one student, we will count it for all their homerooms.  Just send in a copy of the sheet with each child.  You can still send in paper box tops, too!
Diary of a Wimpy Kid Pre-Order

Jeff Kinney's newest book is scheduled to go on sale November 5, 2019. Our Scholastic Book Fair is offering a specially-priced paperback edition of Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Wrecking Ball.  To order a copy, complete a pre-sale form and return by October 2, 2019.

Yearbook Cover Contest

The Yearbook Cover Contest has begun! This year's Yearbook theme is "Travel the World". Any Dogwood student can hand-draw a picture for the cover of the yearbook. The deadline is Friday, October 11th and all submissions should be turned in to Mrs. Mink in Classroom 31 on the green hall.  
 
All submissions should include "Dogwood Elementary 2019-2020". Please submit designs with your name and homeroom teacher written on the back.

Choose to Be NICE

The following students received a Dolphin Dollar and were invited to sign the Choose to Be NICE wall in the cafeteria this week:

Shout Outs!

Shout out to Annabella Brandon for organizing volunteers and helping make Picture Day run so smoothly.  Thank you to Tera Prather, Holly Joyner, Lauren Pardue, Kathryn Hickey, Susan Solomon, Amanda Harder, Hallie Peay, Kathryn Nelson, and Alicia Harrison for helping our students smile for the camera!

Thank you to Susan Solomon and Emily Ludwig for helping with pizza day in the cafeteria on Friday.  And, thank you to Leigh Osborne, Carlos Shammas, Michelle Midha, and Kristin Hicks for volunteering in the Health Room this week.

The Dogwood community is the best!! There are so many people who serve our students, teachers, and families so well that we would like to recognize them more publicly throughout the year.
