Van's Plan

A new car line procedure has been implemented thanks to a super smart Dogwood 4th grader, Van Arthur, and his mom!

The car line will be held at the corner of Howell Circle and Dogwood Rd. until 8:25 am

This will free up the in and out for our students who are safety patrols and have other morning commitments to access the driveway without causing traffic confusion!
The Dolphin C.R.E.W

We are excited to announce a new program at DES - The Dolphin C.R.E.W.

What is it?

The Dolphin Crew is a volunteer opportunity for parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, etc. who would like to be involved and engaged in their child's classroom. Volunteers (2-4 per class) will spend 45 minutes in the classroom (without the teacher) interacting with students and leading a STEAM activity. The "lesson plans" will be provided for you and the "fun extras" (heads up 7-up, charades, story-time, etc.) will be your choice.

Why?

Being a part of your child's classroom is an excellent way to spend time in an environment that your child is a part of every day. It gives you the opportunity to walk a little in their shoes, to interact with their peers, and to give the students a fresh face from the community who is interested and involved.

When?

The first Dolphin Crew opportunity will be:

Kindergarten - 9/24/18 - 1:45-2:30
1st Grade - 9/24/18 - 2:35-3:05
2nd Grade - 9/24/18 - 1:00-1:45
3rd Grade - 10/1/18 - 1:40-2:25
4th Grade - 10/1/18 - 9:45-10:30
5th Grade - 10/1/18 - 10:35-11:25

Your students' room parent will provide details for signing up to help.

Attention DADs!

Any Dogwood father or father-figure interested in joining the Dogwood DADs group and volunteering at the school, please contact Ryan Strain.  rstrain@bakerdonelson.com

Volunteer to help in our Health Room

We need daily help from 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. staffing the health room (located in the bookstore). You can sign up for one or multiple days. You can also volunteer for a shorter time frame.

You will be dealing with minor issues like band-aids and ice packs. No medical experience necessary!

This is a huge service to our school and allows more time for our school nurse to attend to more urgent issues.

Library News

Volunteers are needed on Mondays and Wednesdays in the library. If you have an hour to give, please use this link to sign up!

You may choose as many days as you would like. Thanks so much for participating!
