July 6th - August 14th
The Dogwood School Summer Camp is open to children ages two through six and runs daily from 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM, with the option to stay an extra hour on Wednesdays for Lunch Bunch. Children who stay for Lunch Bunch on Wednesdays will bring a packed lunch from home.

For each week you may choose to sign up for two (T/TH), three (MWF) or five days.

Each camp day will consist of outdoor play including sand and water tables, stories, music and movement, crafts, and a snack to go along with our theme of the week.
In addition to our regular camp sessions we will also offer Countdown to Kindergarten during the last two weeks of camp (August 3rd - August 14th) for children entering kindergarten in September. You may sign up for one or two weeks, however you must attend all five days of the week.
Weeks 1 & 2 : Animal Planet
Insects and Spiders
( July 6th-10th)

Did you know that butterflies have taste buds on their feet? From tiny larvae to beautiful butterflies we will explore concepts of change and growth as we build on children's natural curiosity about the world around them. Our summer gardens will provide a living laboratory for tons of exploration and fun!
Reptiles and Amphibians
(July 13th-17th)

Can you tell the difference between a frog and a toad? How about a crocodile and an alligator? These slippery and semiaquatic animals are often  intriguing to children. This week we will explore a variety of reptiles, their habitats, and interesting facts about these cold blooded creatures.
Weeks 3 & 4 : Art Appreciation
Amazing Artists
(July 20th-24th)

Move over Van Gogh and Monet, here comes a new generation of budding artists. This week we will learn about the lives of famous artists and the techniques they used to create their work. We will use their work to learn skills such as observation and reflection as we replicate some of their paintings.

Painting Their Way
(July 27th-31st)

Let's get messy! Painting can offer children a rich opportunity to express themselves using their senses and emotions. The focus will be on the artistic process rather than the finished product as we engage the children by offering a variety of different mediums to paint with.
Weeks 5 & 6 : Adventures in Cooking
The Bake Shop
(August 3rd -7th)

From layer cakes to muffins, young bakers will be measuring, mixing, rolling, and kneading this week. We will be creating a variety of goodies fresh each day. The highlight of the week will be our cupcake decorating contest. May the best cupcake win! Children with allergies will be accommodated
Farmers' Market
(August 10th-14th)

How does our garden grow? Using fresh ingredients from our Dogwood garden as well as those grown locally, the focus this week will be on preparing foods that are healthy, organic and delicious. Homemade salsa and fruit smoothies are just a sample of what will be on the menu.
Weeks 5 & 6 : Countdown to Kindergarten
Ready, Set, Read
(August 3rd-August 7th)

Rising kindergarteners will have a schedule this week similar to a typical kindergarten classroom. Our focus for this week will be on letter recognition and writing, sight words, poetry, and children's literature. Exposure to quality children's literature will certainly spark an interest in learning to read independently.
Ready, Set, Write
(August 10th-14th)

Our second week of kindergarten readiness will focus  on prewriting and writing skills. We will incorporate literature and discussion into our daily writer's workshop lessons. We will help children gain the confidence they need to become successful writers in kindergarten.
