DEI UPDATE

DEI Connects is a Members Only comm

In an ever-evolving world where diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) are essential components of success in any organization, the emergence of business discussions surrounding inclusivity signifies a transformative shift in how individuals and companies approach their own DEI initiatives. In 2021, the Chamber recognized a need for a members' community where peers can discuss DEI initiatives and learn best practices. The result was DEI Connects, a thriving member community united by a common goal: to share, learn, and implement best practices in diversity, equity, and inclusion across various facets of organizational life, from employee culture to talent development and recruiting and retention strategies.

More than just a network; DEI Connects is an opportunity for Chamber members to come together, to deepen their understanding of DEI, and leverage that knowledge for positive change. These monthly, no-charge meetings serve as a platform for vibrant discussions, knowledge exchange, and inspiration. The driving force behind this community is the belief that everyone, regardless of their background or experiences, has a valuable role to play in promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Each month, DEI Connects gathers virtually to engage with a prominent DEI leader who shares their wealth of experience, offering valuable insights into DEI best practices and programs that can be implemented in various organizational contexts. It's an opportunity to learn from those who have successfully navigated the complexities of DEI, gain fresh perspectives, and identify innovative approaches that can be tailored to meet specific organizational needs. These monthly meetings ensure that Chamber members have access to the latest insights and best practices in the field of diversity, equity, and inclusion.

DEI Connects meetings have been crafted to share real-world examples and trends that will help members with their own programs. For example, past speaker, Nikki Odom, Senior Director of DE&I and Community Affairs, Nestlé, spoke about "Nestlé USA's Coaching & Mentoring Program" and Glenn Jackson, Chief Diversity Officer of Diversity Equity & Inclusion for Human Resources, M&T Bank, shared, "DEI 2025 Vision and Goals." Past speakers can be found here.

Our next DEI Connects will occur on October 17th and will feature Sharnnia Artis, Vice President for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and Chief Diversity Officer, George Mason University. All members are welcome. Register here.
