DSA HONOREE SPOTLIGHT

DSA Honorees Standing Together for Our Veteran Community

As we gear up for the 2024 Distinguished Service Awards (DSA), NVC is thrilled to honor exceptional leaders whose impact reverberates across the veteran-business community. Tom Donohue, Advisor and Former CEO of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, will receive the 2024 Lifetime Achievement Award, and Andrea Inserra, Executive VP at Booz Allen Hamilton, will be recognized as the 2024 Veteran Advocate of the Year. Also featuring NVC’s newest category, we will be commemorating RTXVETS for their valuable contributions. These honorees embody the spirit of service and leadership that the DSA represent.

Tom Donohue: 2024 Lifetime Achievement Award Honoree

We are proud to recognize Tom Donohue, Advisor and Former CEO of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, as our 2024 Lifetime Achievement Honoree. He served as the President and CEO of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce from 1997 to 2019, where he reinvigorated the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation, which houses Hiring Our Heroes, a program that identifies job opportunities for returning veterans and military spouses. Under Donohue’s leadership, HOH partnered with Capital One to launch the Hiring 500,000 Heroes campaign. Through this initiative, more than 2,000 businesses of all sizes and industries hired more than 500,000 veterans and military spouses. Read his full bio here.

Andrea Inserra: 2024 Veteran Advocate of the Year Award Honoree

We are equally excited to honor Andrea Inserra, Executive VP at Booz Allen Hamilton, with the 2024 Veteran Advocate of the Year Award. Andrea Inserra is the Executive Vice President at Booz Allen Hamilton and is a market leader for Booz Allen Hamilton’s aerospace business, serving clients in the U.S. Air Force, Space Force, and NASA. Andrea chaired the firm’s Military and Veterans Business Resource Group, which serves veterans and military families by providing best-in-class benefits, partnering with nonprofits, and volunteering in the community. She transformed the firm’s approach to supporting veterans and military spouses, coordinating external and internal support for veteran employees and key military nonprofits, presiding over the creation of the nation’s first Military Spouse Business Resource Group, and sponsoring the creation of a new Military and Veterans Affairs function at the firm, which led to the formal integration of the firm’s philanthropic, employee engagement and recruiting initiatives for the military community. Read her full bio here.

RTXVETS: 2024 Veteran Employee Resource Group

Introducing NVC’s newest category, we are proud to recognize RTXVETS as the 2024 Veteran Employee Resource Group. RTX leverages its Employee Resource Group (ERG), RTXVETS, to provide support for the armed forces community, which includes military members, veterans, families, and supporters. Over 8,000 volunteer hours were contributed by RTX VETS members in 2024 to serve veterans through internal and external initiatives. To promote professional growth, a new mentorship program named VAALOR was introduced this year, resulting in the creation of 710 unique relationships between employees. Read their bio here.

The government contracting industry’s financial and operational aspects remain largely unknown, creating challenges in addressing commercial, policy, and regulatory issues. George Mason University's Greg and Camille Baroni Center for Government Contracting have embarked on an endeavor to illuminate this underexplored area through their inaugural survey of the government contracting industrial base. This 15-minute confidential survey will ask questions concerning the key performance indicators utilized by federal contractors and their suppliers. All CEOs, presidents, owners, CFOs, and senior executives are encouraged to complete the survey. Take the survey here.
