Join our Chief Diversity Officer Task Force

At the Chamber, we understand that regional growth and prosperity arises from a diversity of perspective and experience. Our region's businesses draw their strength from their workforce, and that workforce draws its own strength from a community rich in diversity. The Chamber's ongoing and groundbreaking research has proven that diverse, equitable communities where people from a variety of backgrounds and abilities have the chance to work together present the strongest business model and provide the clearest path toward true prosperity. Ever mindful of what will best benefit business growth, the Chamber has made Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) a pillar supporting our regional work and membership programs at both an individual membership level and on behalf of the Greater Washington region as a whole.

We are inviting member Chief Diversity Officers interested in participating to join our new Chief Diversity Task Force. By leveraging collective knowledge and expertise, the work of this important Task Force impacts our region's DEI efforts with long-standing influence on future practices. The Task Force's marquee efforts will be its work with the Northern Virginia Champions for Accountability program and its Champions for Accountability Badge. The badge recognizes employers in Northern Virginia that have taken the first step toward corporate diversity: they are willing to collect, share, and act on data about the demographic composition of their owners, executives, staff and boards.

Members who are interested in joining our Task Force should contact Jennifer Williamson, CAE, IOM, CFRE, Vice President, Workforce & Member Engagement at jwilliamson@novachamber.org.

Contrary to popular perception, only 6.5% of older Northern Virginians move in a given year and only 2.6% of them leave the state. An overwhelming majority, therefore, “age-in-place,” and they constitute an ever-growing percent of the local demographic. Who are they, what do they need, and how can we help?

Join us and our presenting partners for the 6th annual Shape of the Region Conference.
