NVC Supporting Veterans

Through on-the-ground advocacy in Richmond, NVC’s annual Distinguished Service Awards (DSA), and member support, NVC continues to be a strong voice for Veteran workforce, Veteran-owned businesses, and Veteran-friendly businesses. According to the Center for a New American Security (CNAS), the Greater Washington Region holds 400,000 Veterans, with the State of Virginia alone exceeding 725,000—ranking third in total Veteran population in the United States. It’s recognized that Veterans, as both entrepreneurs and employees, contribute tremendously to the Region’s economic vitality, which is why supporting businesses and efforts that improve the well-being of Greater Washington’s service members and families is a priority for NVC.

The annual DSAs are one way NVC shows support and recognition to our current and past service members. The event honors innovative, impactful Veteran-owned businesses and Veteran leaders who stand out for their extraordinary leadership. DSA winners are showcased at a powerful ceremony that unites military and Veteran business leaders in the Region. Join us for our next event at the Army Navy Country Club on September 17th, at 8:30AM to honor our finalists and awardees. Applications are now open, and the deadline to submit has been extended to July 8th.

The future of the Region’s Veteran business community is being shaped by NVC’s member support. We are grateful for their unwavering efforts, which are making positive, long-lasting impacts on Veterans. The following list is of NVC’s non-profit organization members who play a crucial role in supporting Veterans and their families:

  • AUSA – George Washington Chapter
  • Code of Support
  • Hope For The Warriors
  • Military Women’s Memorial Foundation
