NEWS YOU CAN USE

Last Friday, the Executive Member Forum was briefed on the key findings of the newly released Q2 Business Leader Survey, a partnership between NVC and Pinkston.

Pinkston Senior Vice Presidents D.J. Jordan and Brooke Hempell shared insights on the survey’s methodology and takeaways from the participating executives. Forum members added a valuable layer of real-world context, affirming — or challenging — the results through their own experiences.

This week, Steven Partridge of Northern Virginia Community College will spotlight NOVAnext, a new initiative helping federal workers transition into private sector leadership, supported by executive mentorship from Northern Virginia's business community.

NVC’s Executive Member Forum offers exclusive, timely conversations on regional issues that matter. To learn more or get involved, contact Jared Sloane.

Northern Virginia Community College’s NOVAnext program is calling for volunteers to help recently displaced federal employees and contractors prepare for new careers. NOVAnext offers free career-transition support, including job search workshops, a professional development course, and now — personalized, one-on-one mentoring.

Volunteers working in the D.C., Maryland, and Virginia region can make a real difference by guiding participants through career shifts, sharing insight on current industry trends, and helping them translate their federal experience into in-demand private sector skills.

Interested professionals are encouraged to complete the NOVAnext Volunteer Interest Form. Once matched with a participant in a relevant field, volunteers will be invited to connect for virtual conversations.

We're proud to celebrate our NVC members named to Virginia Business’ inaugural Forty Under 40! Honored on May 12, 2025, these rising leaders were recognized for their professional excellence, community impact, and drive to inspire change:

NVC CENTENNIAL CELEBRATION

DID YOU KNOW?...

In the summer of 2005, NVC, led by former President & CEO William D. Lecos, took a bold stand to protect the region's hospitality industry.

NVC successfully defeated a proposal by Herndon’s elected leaders to increase meals and transient occupancy taxes. This victory was crucial in preventing a precedent that could have burdened local hospitality businesses with taxes funding initiatives unrelated to tourism promotion. These efforts safeguarded the industry’s interests and preserved a key economic driver for the region.
