Members Are Encouraged to Help Afghan Refugees in Northern Virginia
A number of organizations within Northern Virginia are asking for help in serving Afghan refugees residing within our community. For example, Northern Virginia Family Service's Multicultural Center is providing mental health services for community members impacted by the crisis in Afghanistan – both evacuees and their families, and also members of the Afghan community who have been here in Northern Virginia for some time and who have been greatly impacted as well. NVFS is also providing training and staff development to the staff of the resettlement agencies on trauma-informed approaches to serving refugees and evacuees and NVFS staff participate in Afghan Evacuees workgroups in several jurisdictions.

Vaccination Requirement: The safety of our members and guests is always of the utmost importance. The Northern Virginia Chamber of Commerce requires all staff, members and guests who attend our events to be fully vaccinated. All attendees will be asked to provide their physical COVID-19 vaccine card, a photo of vaccination card, or Health Pass by CLEAR. For additional details see our individual registration pages.

The Greater Washington Apprentice Network February Employer Briefing

The Greater Washington Apprentice Network (GWAN) brings together employers, academic institutions, public and private sectors. Employers gain access to best practices from organizational peers, sources of prospective apprentice candidates, support services, academic institutions, and training resources. The GWAN meets on the first Tuesday of each month for an Employer Briefing.

But complex barriers to basic mental health services—to therapy, helpful medications, and early interventions—abound.
