Bringing Apprenticeship Programs to the Government Contracting and Banking Industries: New GWAN Cohorts Announced
Workforce challenges are hardly a new topic these days, but sizzling negative headlines don’t tell the whole story, such as the many positive actions taken to attract and retain quality employees while improving diversity within our region. One such action that is brimming over with positive force is The Greater Washington Apprentice Network. In fact, the work of this program has been so impactful that we’re now expanding to include industry cohorts, starting with two focused on the banking and government contracting industries. 

The Greater Washington Apprentice Network, or GWAN, directly helps businesses across the region grow and thrive while helping them solve some of their workforce challenges: hiring and training workers, increasing employee retention and loyalty, and increasing employee diversity. Vaccination Requirement: The safety of our members and guests is always of the utmost importance. The Northern Virginia Chamber of Commerce requires all staff, members and guests who attend our events to be fully vaccinated. All attendees will be asked to provide their physical COVID-19 vaccine card, a photo of vaccination card, or Health Pass by CLEAR. For additional details see our individual registration pages.

Join Chamber members in Richmond this year at Viva Virginia! Our annual legislative reception is back on after a COVID-induced hiatus last year. Each year, Viva Virginia is one of the premier mid-Session receptions that lawmakers and business leaders alike make sure they attend. This year we are co-hosting the event with the Arlington Chamber and Alexandria Chamber. Back in 2020, we had the Lieutenant Governor, Speaker of the House, Chair of Senate Finance, and many other members of our Northern Virginia delegation join the reception.
The Greater Washington Apprentice Network February Employer Briefing

The Greater Washington Apprentice Network (GWAN) brings together employers, academic institutions, public and private sectors. Employers gain access to best practices from organizational peers, sources of prospective apprentice candidates, support services, academic institutions, and training resources. The GWAN meets on the first Tuesday of each month for an Employer Briefing.
