Join us in celebrating our Lifetime Achievement winners at this Friday's Good Business Awards
The Chamber's annual Good Business Awards have long generated excitement about the future and our work within the business community. It is during this event that we share the Chamber's plans for the upcoming year, present our new Officers and Board of Directors, and, of course, announce our worthy award winners. While there's no denying the advantage to a forward view, it's also nice to take a moment and reflect on a lifetime of success and business excellence within our community. This year we are honored to shine a light on our two Lifetime Achievement Award winners: Cathy Lange, Human Capital Advisors, LLC, and Stuart Mendelsohn, Holland & Knight LLP.

Cathy, a partner with Human Capital Advisors, LLC, has more than 40 years of experience as a business owner, partner, and community leader. Her work has included founding Business Works of America, Inc., serving as a Chairman and member of many community Boards of Directors, and is a trailblazer in offering executive coaching to companies and non-profits. She currently serves as the Chairman of the Fairfax County Economic Development Authority.

Stuart leads Holland & Knight's LLP's Northern Virginia land use practice and has served on and led many boards, authorities, and commissions, including eight years on the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors and two on the Fairfax County School Board. Additionally, he served on the Tysons Corner Land Use Task Force and helped found the Tysons Partnership. He has additionally served as the Chairman of Virginia's Special Olympics and Governor of Kiwanis International.

Join us on Friday, June 11th, 9-10AM for the Good Business Awards and help us celebrate Cathy and Stuart's lifetime achievements. The event is free for everyone.
MEMBER SURVEY
When Should We Go Back to In-Person Events?
After more than a year filled with virtual events, we, as a Chamber, can begin planning our own return to in-person events and member networking opportunities. Rather than operate in a bubble, we want to hear from you, our members, on when you would be willing (or able) to attend in-person events again. We've created a short survey that will help us determine the timing of our next in-person event. This survey will remain open until June 11th and can be accessed via the link below. 
MEMBER ADVOCACY
In Case You Missed It
On Monday, VP Of Government Relations Clayton Medford hosted another Advocacy 101. If you missed it, here’s a quick rundown. The Chamber’s Board of Directors, Policy Committee and NOVABizPAC together create and execute the Chamber’s robust advocacy program. The Board sets the strategic direction of the Chamber and approves the annual Legislative Agenda; the Policy Committee creates the Legislative Agenda; and the NOVABizPAC contributes to and endorses candidates for offices as well as hosts regular meetings with elected officials. The VP of Government Relations, Clayton Medford, provides support on advocacy for those three Chamber groups and is our “boots on the ground” during the Virginia General Assembly. You can get involved in the Chamber’s advocacy by: joining the Policy Committee, joining the PAC, or by offering your organization’s expertise.

Through a public-private-partnership, the state-of-the-art Institute for InnovAtion (IDIA) will bring together students, educators, entrepreneurs, and innovators to immerse themselves in the latest technologies creating a diverse and sustainable pipeline of talent filling the needs of the future workforce.

Blueprint Virginia 2030 Regional Tour - Region 7 Meeting

The Virginia Chamber Foundation is pleased to formally release the dates and open registration for the Blueprint Virginia 2030 Regional Tour.

Those who register will be invited to participate in the Blueprint Virginia 2030 Regional Tour survey. As part of the Blueprint Virginia 2030 development process, the Virginia Chamber Foundation has announced it will host a series of virtual meetings throughout Virginia, in partnership with its network of local, regional, and other chambers of commerce; and GO Virginia and VEDA. These meetings will serve to foster greater regional collaboration by bringing together leaders in business, economic development, workforce, education, housing, and other community representatives from across the Commonwealth to provide input for Virginia’s next statewide strategic plan.

Greater Washington Apprentice Network July Employer Briefing
July 6th | 2-3PM
The Greater Washington Apprenticeship Network (GWAN) brings together employers, academic institutions, public and private sectors. Employers gain access to best practices from organizational peers, sources of prospective apprentice candidates, support services, academic institutions, and training resources. The GWAN meets on the first Tuesday of each month for an Employer Briefing.
