Event Attendees: Now Requiring Proof of Vaccination
A joint message from our 2021-2022 Board of Directors Chairman, Luanne Gutermuth, LSG Solutions LLC, and Julie Coons, President and CEO, Northern Virginia Chamber of Commerce
With summer wrapping up and our attention now redirected to our busy fall season, we can’t help but be proud of the many unique and special events we have planned for you, our members. From a rare opportunity to witness regional leaders discuss decisions that will impact us all at September’s Capital Region Business Forum to honoring our veterans at November’s Distinguished Service Awards, our Chamber events have been carefully curated to bring our members together with content that matters. 

However incredible our speakers and topics, we cannot ignore that we are all still living and working through a pandemic. Our members and guests are always our priority, and no event could ever be considered a success if we lost sight of their wellbeing. Therefore, we are taking our cue from government and private entities and will require all staff, members and guests who attend our events to be fully vaccinated from today forward. All attendees will be asked to provide their physical COVID-19 vaccine card, a photo of vaccination card, or Health Pass by CLEAR. For more details please visit our event registration webpages.

It is our sincere hope that limiting attendance to vaccinated persons will put our event attendees’ minds at ease and allow for a more comfortable event environment. We appreciate everyone’s understanding as we implement this change on behalf of our business community. Working together we can ensure a safer future for us all.

Northern Virginia Regional Commission Community-Military Partnership Seeks Input on DEI Roadmap
The Northern Virginia Regional Commission’s (NVRC) Community-Military Partnership is looking for your input on its new Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Roadmap. This DEI Roadmap is meant to provide a framework for coordinating efforts in our region to create more equitable communities for service members and their families. If your organization has a focus on military and veterans, is veteran-owned or veteran-run, or wants to get more engaged regionally on DEI in military communities we hope you will comment on the DEI Roadmap which you can receive by contacting Peggy Tadej at peggy.tadej@novaregion.org. In addition, please consider contacting Ms. Tadej to join a listening session on September 16th regarding the Roadmap.

The Northern Virginia Elected Leaders Summit offers the region’s business leaders the opportunity to hear from our local elected leaders about the economic climate in the region, initiatives they have completed or are undertaking to foster economic growth, and thoughts on how each jurisdiction can work together to improve our regional economy.

The Arlington Chamber of Commerce is hosting this summit with premier partner, the Northern Virginia Chamber of Commerce, and co-hosts, Alexandria Chamber of Commerce, Loudoun Chamber of Commerce, Prince William Chamber of Commerce, and Northern Virginia Regional Commission.
Greater Washington Apprentice Network September Employer Briefing

The Greater Washington Apprentice Network (GWAN) brings together employers, academic institutions, public and private sectors. Employers gain access to best practices from organizational peers, sources of prospective apprentice candidates, support services, academic institutions, and training resources. The GWAN meets on the first Tuesday of each month for an Employer Briefing.

Join the Chamber as we bring together national, state and regional transportation policymakers for our annual State of Transportation! Our keynote this year is Tyler Duvall, CEO and co-founder of Cavnue, a company focused on innovation in transportation. Tyler has held positions throughout the federal government including Acting Undersecretary for Policy at the U.S. Department of Transportation. The State of Transportation will once again include an all-star panel discussion, moderated by Bob McCartney of the Washington Post, with Kate Mattice of NVTC, Monica Backmon of NVTA, and Nick Donohue, Deputy Secretary of Transportation for the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Join us live, in person, at the Chamber's office for this discussion on the future of transportation in the post-COVID world.
Distinguished Service Awards

The Distinguished Service Awards honor individuals, companies, and non-profit organizations for their service to veterans in the Greater Washington business community. The Awards are presented in recognition of community stewardship and business leadership.

This event will be held at the Army Navy Country Club located at 1700 Army Navy Drive Arlington, VA 22202.
