MEMBER ADVANTAGE

Submit your Positively NOVA! goodwill stories by December 16th!

Attention members, help us spread the word about Northern Virginia's good work this December! Has your company planned an employee-based charitable outing? Have you donated food or goods to those in need? Or raised money to support a non-profit's mission? These are precisely the kinds of stories we want to share with the world. Help us spread goodwill vibes within our community by letting us showcase your story in our upcoming Positively NOVA! winter edition!

We know that our Chamber member community is generous with its time and through donations and give-back efforts, and we want to showcase that good work in our upcoming Positively NOVA! winter newsletter, on our website, and via our social media channels.

To participate in Positively NOVA!, simply send a 2-3 paragraph write-up (no sales language, please), at least one photo from the effort, and your logo to communications@novachamber.org by December 16th for inclusion in this special issue.

Virginia Labor Force Numbers Show Gains, Losses

Since January of this year, 92,673 more Virginians have gained employment with our Commonwealth's October unemployment rate of 2.7 percent up 0.1 percent from September. This is one percentage point below the national rate, which rose to 3.7 percent in October. Good news from BLS Local Area Unemployment Statistics (“LAUS”, or “the household survey”), shows that the labor force in Virginia has increased by 1,162 to 4,348,072. However, that growth has not come from Virginia residents. Employed residents decreased in October by 2,503 to 4,231,191 while the number of unemployed residents increased by 3,665 to 116,881.

Youngkin Announces New Division of Healthy Equity

Governor Glenn Youngkin announced last week that ARDX®, a government healthcare management and technology consulting firm, will invest $2.4 million to relocate and expand in the City of Norfolk. The relocation is driven by the need to increase staffing to establish a new Division of Health Equity, which will improve access, quality, and outcomes of service delivery to the nation’s most vulnerable populations.

Participate in the 2022 Northern Virginia Workforce Index Survey

What are our region's workforce trends - you tell us! We're conducting research on this very topic as part of our 2022 Northern Virginia Workforce Index. Conducted in partnership with the Northern Virginia Chamber Foundation and the Northern Virginia Community College, the 2022 report will be available in January at the Chamber’s annual Economic Outlook Conference. Please take a moment to complete the survey and share your company’s data. We cannot do this important research without the participation of companies like yours. Take the survey.
